On September 16th, I bought a car insurance policy from Progressive after my AAA representative showed me a list of quotes from different companies. Progressive showed the lowest quote. I paid a $300 down payment on that day.
Over the next month, I received two notices, which together raised my premium by almost $100 per month. I had to cancel the policy the day before my first monthly payment because I could not afford a monthly car insurance premium of $270. I believe Progressive made a fraudulently low quote on my policy so that I would avoid signing with another car insurance company, knowing that they could raise my premium at any time.
Because I was forced to cancel the policy, I am out that $300 down payment, which had not been refunded to me. Also, this month, they contacted me and demanded the $270 payment because some incompetent employee did not enter my cancellation notice into their computer system.
I hope none of this affects my credit policy. I will never work with Progressive in the future, and I warn other consumers about buying policies from their company.
