Ben Alexander, owner CWPM screamed at me today when I called to ask why he refused to list the apartment before the first of the month so that I possibly could receive some unused rent back. As a blind person I use adaptive software to read and compelete necessary documents. However I contacted his office three times to inquire about an apartment with washer and dryer connections as accomodation that I could afford and each time there as nothing available plus if I took something more expensive I would have to pay double deposits and double rent plus he is trying to charge me $50 per day for gas and electric on the unit I no longer occupy.
This company appears to engaging in potential usuary tacticts, refusing to accept written notice unless it is on their forms, where the lease states "30 day written notice" not on a specified form and payment of current rent. I prepared a letter and it was hand delivered on December 1, 2009 as 30 day notice to vacate the apartment rented since October 2008 on a month to month lease. It was stated in the lease that I moved to accomodate my disablility with washer and dryer connections in a unit I could afford. He also forced us to pay for steam cleaning the carpet that was considered normal wear and tear after a year and should have been their responsiblity to clean. I paid an additonal $96 to have Service Master clean a carpet that was not previously cleaned when my husband took poession in October 2008. We were not permited to see the apartment as we were only in the area for two days and had to return so my husband could pack and drive back to report to work.
This man is rude, as his staff and has no consideration for consumers. So I do not recommend this Company or to rent any unit he may have. They are about money and taking advantage of all consumers especially those who are blind and visually impaired. Please use caution, before you rent any property managed by Colorado West Property Managment.
For the record, there was never a late payment made on this rental so that is not even a consideration of this dispute it is the actions of the company
