Escrow account
Provident’s IS THE WORST! Their escrow department and their customer service department are screwed up so bad. It’s outrageous but, more than that, they have been unresponsive and unprofessional in the way they’ve handled my concerns. My problems began when I realized they were withholding so much extra money and I wanted to have the problem corrected. They requested a supplemental tax assessment and promised things would be addressed at this time. When I forwarded the new lower amount from the tax collector and ask them to address the problem and send me the refund, they kept sending me in circles. At the end, they told me they will send me the check after they pay the county tax which is several months later. They have the corrected amount sent directly from the county tax assessor and they still refused to send me the refund. They are holding on to almost $3, 000 of my money in addition they have to have extra $2, 000 on top of that for escrow account. They kept sending me in circle and refuse to send me the difference so they can collect interest. I have continued waiting patiently for a resolution but, in the end, I was disappointed. I received a notification that they are STILL planning to pay the property tax to the county on March the 17, 2011 with the wrong amount – despite having verified documentation of the corrected amount. This is preposterous and inexcusable. When I called the service department again, I was now informed that I would have to ask the County to send me the return. I have been checking with the County every day (and even again today which is 11 day later) and they haven’t received payment yet – despite an email from Provide Funding indicating they sent the payment on March 17th. This was even more frustrating and, when I called Provident Funding again to try to address this concern, I was told they are not sure if they can change the amount and they don’t know if the tax department has sent in the payment or not. I requested to speak with the tax department or personnel who handles escrow and I was informed that they do not accept customer calls nor allow customers to contact them. This wasn’t just bizarre – it was unreasonable but I wanted to address it through the company’s protocols. I asked how I could get my message to them this time since I have been calling for so many times, faxes sending letter and NOONE was doing anything but did not receive a valid response. I can’t deal with this bank anymore and looking into refinance it ASAP, and get out of this nightmare.
