This isn't a complaint, more of an inquiry. I am a new author, just completed my first children's book. I am unemployed (laid off after disability) and decided this "time off" would be a great opportunity to complete some things, my book being one of them.
I would like some recommendations, suggestions, advice on the best way to self-publish, self-promote your book, do the major bookstores take requests from local authors to help promote? Is it best to find an agent? I received offers from AuthorHouse, Dorrance and Whitmore Publishing...Whitmore offers to pay for all costs, AuthorHouse claims to be the best as far as publishing and marketing. The complaints have me VERY concerned.
How would I go about having my book copyright correctly, obtain an ISBN #, and is there anything else needed before trying to self-publish. Is there a reputable company that anyone has used out there that assists with all this as well as provides an affordable publishing price or pays for publishing? You can also email me at [email protected]
I appreciate your help!
Sincerely,
L Rigby
