Shifty car repairs
Good evening, My car was taken to Quality Brake Specialist, Inc at 180 S. Telegraph road by my fiance' on Fri 2-6-09 for excelleration issues. The owner explained that there was a number of things wrong with the car, mostly braking issues, ie. struts, balljoints. He said that those needed to be taking care of right away and he told him ok, but the car was here for excelleration issues. He stated that if we get a new catalic converter and 2 computer chips that would indeed fix the excelleration issue. He quoted $500 something odd $'s. They kept the car overnight and called us close to the end of the business day on Sat to pick the car up. We did so & the car drove like it hadn't even been touched. The shop is closed on Sunday's so we waited until today Monday 2-9-09 to take it back. The owner said that he would take a look at it again. After looking over the car again & several test drives later. He came back out and stated that again, the car was fixed and we started out home. The same issue occured. Upon returning back to the shop, we asked for our money back. He said that he could not do that. The Mechanic took the car for another test drive & came back and stated that YES, there was still something wrong with the car. Then we asked again for the owner to either fix the car or give us a refund. He stated again that he wasn't going to give us a refund and told us, take me to court, knowing full well that most people will not take him to court. It seemed like he was banking on that to happen this time also. Then he stated that he NEVER said that replacing those items would fix the excelleration and that was just a blaten lie. He also stated again that there were several things wrong with the car as if that was his get out of jail free card that he was holding on too. I said to him that if he felt like replacing those items wouldn't help the excelleration, then why did he state that it would? I feel like I was swindled. Flat out lied to in order to get my money. He acted like he didn't even care. Like oh well. It's not my problem when in fact it is. He said that he wanted to make me happy but he hasn't offered to fix mycar "correctly" nor give me my money back. I am wondering to myself, how many people he has done this too. How many people has never took him to court or seeked any kind of justice behind such consumer mistreatment. I am willing to follow this thru till the very end just to ensure that this will never happen to another single mother or homeowner ever again!!! It's unfair to the community to burden us with keeping his company afloat while we are left holding the bag empty handed!! If you can't fix the problem. Then you simply be honest and state that you can't. You don't take someone's money KNOWING full well that what you are going to do, is not going to fix the car. Plain and Simple. Right is right and wrong is just WRONG!!
