We are yet another casuality of Quality Wholesale Homes.
We received an unsolicited email from them advertising a 121 Hour Stimulus Sale where they were offering free delivery and setup on their "wholesale" priced manufactured homes.
We were pressured to send a deposit right away to "secure the offer, " but made them wait while we made the 6 hour each way trip to the property where we intended to build so that we could meet with our contractor, etc.
Once all seemed to be settled, they sent a contract via email. The contract included a price for the home we selected with upgrades and modifications. We live in CA and have very strict fire and earthquake building codes. Although they were not listed specifically in the contract, Dave Higby (mangaer), and Sady Salah (salesperson), guaranteed us over and over that that the price included all CA codes as they would "not be issued a Certificate of Occupancy" which meant they would not be paid.
We sent our $5, 000 Cashier's Check. The day AFTER the check was cashed, we received another email with an attachment called a "Critical Issues List." The Critical Issues List contained several items that we were to sign off on to indicate that we understood that any requirements listed would be charged as additional fees to our contract. The Critical Issues List contained all the very CA requirements Dave Higby and Sady Salah assured were included in the contract we had signed. If we were to continue with the sale as they wanted, our manufactured home would have cost us tens of thousands of dollars more than the contract price.
We requested our money back as were told "there is no money to be refunded." Around this time we also received notice from Justin Kerns that Quality Wholesale Homes was going out of business and that now we had to deal with Goldbilt (who had just happened to hire Justin Kerns...and also said they would honor the $5, 000 deposit we gave to QWH).
When we started investigating, we realized that Goldbilt was just Quality Wholesale Homes operating under a different name. Although until very, very late in the process, we had decided to just go ahead and complete the transaction, we finally realized that we would be foolish to pay any more money to them as they are frauds.
At this point, Quality Wholesale Homes and Goldbilt have webistes that are "Under Construction." They're just reorganizing until they can get their scam going under a different company name. If you're looking into buying a manufactured home and the following names are anywhere near associated with the company, DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY: Quality Wholesale Homes, QWH, DSH Housing, Devon Howard, Devon S. Howard, Goldbilt Homes, Goldbilt Wholesale Manufactured Homes, Goldbilt, Dave Higby, Dave Higbee, Sady Salah, Justin Kerns. There are many more involved with this scam, but the ones listed have been persobnally idendified by us as scammers.
These people are scum, and in the end, whenever that may be, they will get what they deserve. If I were them, I'd be keeping an eye on my back as well as my family. There are plenty of ripped off and pissed off people out there. You never know what one might do to get satisfaction for the hard earned money they've been ripped off. I'm not making any threats, I'm just stating facts.
