Dan Howard took our order by phone after talking to my wife and I on May 28th. Dan requested a wire transfer of $30, 000 to start the process.
We did NOT sign or return QWH’s Purchase Order because of discrepancies from what Dan Howard told both of us over the phone & the price listed on the Purchase Order which arrived later by mail. So no actual work was started on a home for us because they do not have any specifics (floor choice, color choice, etc.).
After receiving the Purchase Order from QWH, we tried to contact Dan Howard or Justin Kerns (works with Dan Howard) but they were not returning our phone calls or emails.
On 7/10/09 we received an email from Justin Kerns informing us that they were going out of business & we must complete our Purchase Order by August 21. During the following days there were several phone messages encouraging us to complete & sign the Order Worksheet.
We tried to call Dan Howard & Justin Kerns many times but both their phones were not working due to “technical difficulties. “ We then found that QWH’s internet site was down. This added to the uneasiness of increasing prices, high pressure calls, and questions about who was really building our home so we requested our money back by registered mail on 7/12/9. They did not respond.
Throughout our contact with them, QWH lead us to believe that they manufactured homes but we have since learned that QWH are middle men. We had been looking at their site for nearly two years.
After talking with Dan Howard (last May 28th) we were referred to Justin Kerns. When we had a question, Justin Kerns could not answer; he stated that he had to: “Call my factory to find out.” On July 3rd we received a floor plan from QWH of the model we wanted and it had “Fleetwood” printed on it, as well as a different model name, Festival II, but we didn’t notice that until later because it was an Email attachment labeled “floor plan” and we already had a floor plan which had been mailed to us (without "Fleetwood" on it). Renaming the model and deleting "Fleetwood" is an obvious attempt to deceive – to mislead about who the actual manufacturer was.
Both Justin Kerns and Dan Howard who worked at QWH are now working under the Goldbilt name.
IMPORTANT: Do a report on line with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Starts out with a few multiple choice questions then you can write up your complaint. You can also report more than one company (at the same time)...Quality Wholesale, Goldbilt, etc. (use tab key/spacebar to move around the site)
Here is the reply I received from them:
