Denial of service
I live near this location and from time to time have stopped in to buy whatever my electronic need might be...and continue to experience sales people who won't sell to me. Two months ago I walked in to purchase a new replacement DSL modem... I found the model I was looking for on their display stand and asked how much for it...I was then joined by another sales person who told me he wouldn't sell it because he lacked the power cord for it..(This is Radio Shack.. they specialize in adapters and power cords), so I said okay and didn't spend to $120. (plus tax) and walked out... A week later I went back to purchase a adapter for my home theater and was told they didn't have any (though they clearly had some on display)..I departed empty handed... Today, (12/10/10) I went in for a ipod headphone extension cord...I found it, and went to pay for it...and was told that the cash draw was stuck/locked/inoperable and my purchase could not be completed...I asked how much the item would cost after tax and paid with the exact change while the staff loudly grumbled.

Black Friday Ad Rip Off
Radio Shack had an Ad for a Acer Netbook for Black Friday. We got to the store at 2:45am and were the 4th in line. The add said there was a minimum of 1 per store. The Ad should have said there is only 1 per store. We waited in line for 3 hours to find out there was only 1 total in the store and the guy who was camped out overnight was the one who received it. If the ad would have said only 1 per store, I would not have even bothered going.

Rip off
I purchased a product protection plan for two items I bought from Radio Shack. WHen both failed (headphones), I called to get them replaced per the plan. I was told that I had to take the items into my local Radio Shack for them to be inspected. I took my item into the Radio Shack store in the Greenway Shopping Center (7000 block of Greenbelt Road)in Greenbelt, Maryland. The clerk, Chris, inspected the item and called teh Service plan office at 800 433 5502. He was to mail the items to the Service plan and I was to recieve a voucher by email within 4 - 24 hours following the mailing, which I would be able to use in the store to re-purchase new headphones. This all happened on Friday, November 12. I did not get the emailed voucher and called the service plan again on Thursday, November 18. When the plan called the Greenbelt store, they were told by the manager that she had no recollection of the transaction. I called the service plan again on Friday, NOvember 19 and was told that I had to contact the store for the items and I was responsible for ensuring that the items got to the replacement plan, even though the store now had the items and there was a record of the call between the clerk and the store. I was told by the agent that I would not get my money back unless the service plan got the tracking number of the FedEx package the store used to send the items back. The agent on the phone went so far as to tell me he had to get off the line with me and answer other people's calls when I suggested a conference call with he, myself, and the store that I would make immediately. Needless to say, when I tried to conference us, he mysteriously dropped off the call on Friday. So, I called the store on Saturday and spoke with Chris, the clerk who handled the transaction when I went in on Friday, NOvember 11. He said FedEx had picked up the items on Monday, NOvember 15. He had not called and given the service center the tracking number. I want my money back.

GPS useless service
I bought a GPS in your store on paramount #01-3003 & I bought the extended service contract.
The unit works fine for about 6 moths then start resetting itself over & over for hours or for entire day not even able to turn it off, I took it to the store where I purchase it & set it for service, (I bought the map for Mexico because I was planning to take it with me on my vacations) it took more than 3 weeks to get it back at that time I was already in Mexico then I call my wife to pick it up from the store & save it for me because I use it to work, when I return I try to use it & now it didn’t even work for more than one hour & then start to resetting itself over & over all day long these time I took it to the store where they witness the problem & leave it for service, well, it has been more than two weeks & I stop to find out the status... they said it was all ready in service but when I dig in I found that they took over 10 days just to ship it out, I get the number on one of the advertisement indicating "If you have a problem contact our district manager" the phone is not in operation... I whet back to the store because they gave me a phone to call to find out the status & the gay in the other end of the phone didn't even recognize what it suppose to be my order# I complain against these lack of professionalism & the guy in the store gave me another number saying these phone will be answer these time I call the phone I get to complain & the only answer I get was a machine establishing it was an answering service & that if I want to contact the operator press cero all I get was another message saying to leave a message they will contact me later 2 day later with no answer I call again & the same situation, I pest of & frustrating for the kind of services you are providing I fell compelling to contact the consumer afire department to place a complain as long as nobody seems to care about the customer once you buy the stuff & pay for a what at these time seems to be a useless warranty.

Unprofessional & Misinformed Manager
Nov 3, 2010, visited Radio Shack to inquire about DVD palyer. Spoke w/ the so called manager. Was told the item is for on-line order only. Fine, does it deliver to store (free shipping)? "NO, it does not"

Checked on-line and the item in fact ships free to store. Called the store, asked for manager, he comes on the phone and here are the incidents proving how imbecile this guy is:

1- When answering the phone; "Yeah, what do you you want".

A 10-year old kid has more manners that this guy. HELLOOOOO, Radi Shack, may be a little training is in order?

2- The Lie; "I never told you it does not ship to store."

3- Attempt to cover up the lie; "I said that it should be mailed to you as we may mishandle or misplace the merchandise at store."

That is the most idiotic statement, EVER. So, Radio Shack people are SO incompetent that they may lose or damage shipped product that the customer has already been charged for? Wake up call; credit card companies are really good at taking care of nonsense like that.

This guy is totally worthless. With so many complaints written and filed against Radio Shack, it is disturbing corporate does not take action to correct conditions hence, the rest of these incompetent personnel keep on acting the way they do.

NO MORE Radio Shack, neither the local store nor on-line.

Exstened Warranties
Purchased 2 year extened warranty/ product protection plan on Nextar GPS unit, with mp3 and data storage capabilities. It failed returned it for replacement... 1 month later they call me to come pickup a refurbished magellan GPS that has no mp3, or data storage features and is WITHOUT A POWER SUPPLY But they had one I could buy for 29.99 + tax !!! This is simply unexceptable !!!to leave store had to sign off that they, on there TERMS had met the entened warranty obligations. Buyer Beware !!!

Horrible experience
I visited store number 01-6518 on the 12th of September 2010. When I arrived with my husband and family I noticed there was only one other party in the store being served. There was a gentlemen on the register taking care of him and he called another employee over by the name of Emillea Dennillson( Name given by the employee) I went over to the phone section after the guy on the register told us he would be over to take care of us as soon as he was done. It looked as though he had an exchange. We waited, , , , , and waited, , , , and waited. The gentlemen then comes over on the phone looking around for something( he had taken a call in the meantime) and my husband and I went back up front to see if the other cashier (Emillea) could help us. we cam into the store around 5:00 pm and by this time it was well after 5:20 pm she was very rude and sarcastic. She was doing something on the register and she rudely asked my husband "What, , , doesen't it look like I am already working?" I was appalled at her snide remark and I then commented to my husband- " We can take our money and spend it where it is appreciated" I walked out while my husband requested the number to corporate and here we are. I noticed that when I went to the next radio shack I Hammond, Indiana on east 165th street As soon as we walked into the door we were greeted with a smile and we were taken care of within a decent time frame. We were acknowledged and we were treated as if we mattered and were not treated as rudely either. I found her attitude and the nonchalant attitude of her co worker to be VERY disturbing AND embarrassing. I would like for this to be dealt with. I spent over 300.00 in the store(another Radio Shack) that day and I really feel that I should have never went back into another Radio Shack again. I told several friends about the service and to my surprise at least two people knew the store and exactly who I was referring to. This cannot be good for business either. I really don't usually write these type of complaints but I fell compelled to at least try to notify someone about this type of treatment of customers.

I will be sending a complaint over to consumer affairs and reporting this to the better business bureau and whoever else will listen due to this horrible experience. Thank you

While at radio shack today I was waiting to check out, I was asked by one employe if I needed anything I said, no, well when I finally needed help, that one nice guy was busy, but there was "jake" who was just walking around playing on his cell phone, he didnt even noticed I was standing at the register I made a comment to him, "so, do you work here (which I knew he did he was in uniform) or are you going to play on your phone all day"His response was "oh I didnt even notice anyone was standing there" I believe that with the way the economy is now, there are plenty of people who would gladly help your customers.I am very disappointment with my service today, and I hope something is done about it!

selling off OLD computers to suckers like me
Bought a brand 'new' computer with windows xp as the operating system. I was worried about getting used to a windows 7 operating system but now i am fumbling with xp...the retail sales clerk told me over the phone that it would stream mlb.tv which was the only reason i bought it...it does for about two innings...my loss...i am disabled and unable to box it up much less get there to return it...ftom now on i will stick to a computer shop for computers instead of retail...the job of a retail sales clerk is to say yes it can even if its a shot from the hip

camera
I bought a camera from Radio Shack and also the repair plan the camera started taking out blurry pics and the screen would sometimes turn white so i took in in for repairs, I got back the camera 1 month later when I was told it would only take 2 weeks . One week later I had to return the camera for repairs again because it had the same problem and additional problems it did not have before, it took 1 month again for them to fix it, the day i went to pick up the camera it would not power up Chris a sales person there told me to take it home and charge the battery it should turn on it never did even though it was charged so i returned it back to them and I told them that I di not want the camera because its my 3rd time returning the camera for repairs and that it keeps coming back with problems it did not have . I was told by Martin the manager that he would replace the camera if I do not get it back in 2 weeks, he never did now there is a new manager and she is telling me she can`t do anything about it, I called the service dept many times and I was told they would put in a request for a replacement because I told them I did not want the camera it has problems that it never had before and that its the 3rd time I am bring it back to them, I was told that another request would be placed to replace the camera I keep calling the store where I took the camera since the 5th July and they keep giving me the run around, I have been calling there customer service and I am getting it there also and up to this date I can`t get my camera replaced and I am being told that it all depends on the service dept wheather or not they would replace the camera or fix it . They have had my camera for the past 4 months and no one seems to be able to help me or knows what is going on with my camera and all i am being told is my camera would be at the local radio shack for the past 2 weeks now which it is not and the local store keeps telling me they have not recieved it .I`m tired of this I want a new camera and I will never purchase anything from radio Shack again.
