I ordered a "free trial" of the Acai Berry Detox. I noticed in the fine print that the initial charge was just that of shipping ($3.95) but that after a "trial period" the customer had 15 days to cancel - otherwise a recurring charge/subscription would be automatically deducted from the account information provided. I had expected to receive the product and cancel before the trial period was over to avoid additional charges. However, I was charged the shipping fee on July 10th and the "trial period" began that day!!! Furthermore, I did NOT receive the product until July 20th. That still would not have been so bad, except that they withdrew funds in the amount of $87.13 from my account on July 20th... 10 days after placing my order!!!
How can a company advertise that they are offering a "FREE trial" to allow you to try their product - then turn around and charge you $87 for it?
I called my bank and got the phone number attached to the company that withdrew the funds... The information from the bank shows the company name as "RainForestBerry" and their phone number is (800) 237-4319.
I called the company - cancelled my "subscription" and told them that since I never even had a chance to open the bottle and sample their product for a "FREE" trial as advertised that I believed the company did NOT do business in good faith and were deliberatly trying to scam their customers. I am returning the unopened bottle and expect to receive a full refund (we'll see). I was provided the following return address:
3007 Greene Street, Hollywood, Florida 33020.
Of course I was warned to put the appropriate information on the box or I wouldn't receive my refund. Additionally, I will be sure to ship with a company that can provide delivery confirmation.
I would not recommend anyone doing business with this company. If a company truly believes in the effectiveness of their product they can send it to you, allow you to use it for a free trial, and NOT require a subscription. If the product really works, customers would call back and order more. That's what a free trial is supposed to be... Not some scam to illicit funds on an automatic basis and hope customers don't read the fine print.
I hope this saves someone a headache!
