Service
Happy! The folks at Professional Water Services have be taking care of my filthy, smelly, rotten water 18 years with out incident. The 2 companies before them couldn't cut it. Thanks Linda, Mark, Pete and the rest of you good people. I normally don't write things online because there is no rules. But when my daughter told me she found something on line that was negative, I felt compelled to speak up. Thanks again

water conditioner sales
A & B Marketing d/b/a Rainsoft continually calls my home marketing their product even though I have asked them repeatedly to remove me from their call list. The girl who calls is very pushy, and rude and claims that we have been referred to them by a friend, or by home depot. I have told them that we are on a no call list, and that they should not call us, however, they continue to call.

Salesman lies
If a Rainsoft salesman calls hang up. If you did make an appointment don't let them in the door. I got a phone call that I 'won' two prizes. One was a free water test and the other a gift card from Home Depot. The caller explained she was from Home Depot and the free water test was in order to see what was wrong with the water in the area so they knew what type of chemicals to spend. I told her I didn't want a spiel for a water conditioner company. No no no she said. This test is worth 100's of dollars and is for Home Depot. If you want a water softener they will sell you one but this is for Home Depot. She explained that I would get the test results of this test that could cost 100's of $$$$. The Rainsoft saleslady arrived 1/2 hour late without appology. Her spiel took over two hours. I should have tossed her out. I did need a conditoner so after I got worn down and she came down from $9000.00 to 3500 I agreed. Thank the lord there is a 3 day cancellation period for contracts of this type in Fl. I could not sleep thinking we were ripped off. So I cancelled. I checked Sears and other retailers and saw a similar system was about $1500. Figuring in about 300 for a plumber to hook it up I thought 1800 was about right. The Big Guy from Rainsoft called the next day. We agreed on a price of 1800. The next day it was installed. As I was reading the owner's manual I saw the lifetime warranty on the filter material was void if there was any iron in the water. My water was not tested for iron. So I called and told them to take it out. No time prior to installation was I told or shown any paper work that mentioned the iron. The 'Big Guy' assured me even if there was iron in the water he would honor the warranty. I had them come out and test for iron and sure enough there was some. The 'Big Guy' said he would give me a new contract with a stipulation that any iron would not void the warranty. I agreed to that but told him I need a few hundred off for all the crap they put me through. He agreed and dropped the price to$1600. I think I could have gotten it even cheaper when I agreed to the $1800 price. My wife did the talking to the 'Big Guy' while I was out running errands. I think I would have offered about $700.00 and seen what they came back at. By the way, the water test worth '$100's of dollars is a simple test to show chlorine and hardness...exactly the same as a swimming pool test. Did Home Depot ever get a copy of my test results? No according to the 'Big Guy'. It was simply lies coming from the telemarketer.

By the way. I love the water system and the water. I would recommend it to anyone. I know you can negoiate the price down and I would bet you can get it for under a $1000.

Discrimination
A RAINSOFT salesman came to our house to give us an estimate on a water softener, yesterday. He refused to give my wife a price, saying he could only give it to her if "her husband was home." What is this, the 1930's? OUTRAGEOUS!
This will turn out to be a bad day for RAINSOFT, I assure you.
Ladies, if you want a water softener, don't call RAINSOFT; unless your husband is home. They evidently won't deal with a woman.

former rep's story
I worked for a rainsoft dealer until this past week when the business could no longer sustain itself. I was never paid for my month of service. Usually when I arrived at peoples' homes they had little idea why I was there. Most of the time, by the time I was informed of the appointment it was already 15 to 45 min late. Apparently some customers are told they won a water test, although I wouldn't know for sure as I never met the people making these appointments. Their target market is low income homes with because they are more likely to purchase without really thinking about it. They also focus extremely hard on closing the sale that day. I wouldn't consider it a scam. More like a tax on the stupid. The sales reps just regurgitate a script over and over again and about %20 of people are dumb enough to buy anything. Based on my experience I would not trust the customer service. Mind you, this was only one dealer of hundreds. My advice is to buy a good water softener. That will do everything that they show you in their presentation, and is the only real money saver. If you want the health benefits of a reverse osmosis system, get it from another company...or don't get either, because it's a waste unless you have really hard water. You wind up having to take a multivitamin to compensate for all the stuff you remove from the water like calcium, magnesium and iron. This stuff is good for you, despite how bad it looks when rainsoft shows it to you.
In conclusion, go get an $800 water softener - because maybe it won't be lifetime warrantied, and it might die in ten years, you'll probably get it from a more legit company. Besides, even if you have to buy three or four of them it's way cheaper than rainsoft in the long run. And, as for making $100, 000 per year - this is what any sales company wants you to think their guys make lol. In conclusion, choose anyone but rainsoft - overpriced product pushed by good actors. Basically, they scammed me out of a month of my time, and I was on their side. I can't imagine how they would treat a customer with an issue...

FRAUD!
We purchased the rainsoft system...or shall I say my husband was suckered into purchasing the rainsoft system exactly one year ago. I had concerns as the product cosst 5k for whole house and air purifier system, and because our sales rep who turns out to also be the general manager in our area made it seem like the company was working for us. Needless to say, Robert the GM set up the install before even mentioning anything about us needing to perform maintainence on the product monthly and annually. I tried to return the product after thirty days because I did not feel that it did anything even close to what it was marketed to do plus for that kind of money who wants to have to calander their own monthly maintanence. They would not allow us to return the product stating that it had been over thirty days since the install, when in fact the 30 day gaurentee should have applied only after we were given the instructions for use by Robert who didn't show up for 4 weeks after the install to do so. When he did show up, he finally decided to mention all the extra maintanence we had to perform on the machine but failed to mention that it would cost us $170.00 annually to reset our expire. Here we are a year later exactly and I am notifiying both the attorney generals office the BBB and home depot that this fraud simply can't happen anymore.

DON'T BUY IT. IF YOU WANT SOFT WATER GET A DARN CONDITIONER THEY COST LESS AND YOU WON'T FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT AT THE END OF THE DAY!

Don't Purchase this product
I'm a first time home buyer, and a few weeks after I moved in, I recieved one of the cold calls offering me free gifts for 15 mins of my time in which my water would be tested. I agreed for the water testing. The salesman showed me how dirty my water was and how much better it was with the system. I was told that with this system, when making a bubble bath, I'd have tons of bubbles without using alot of soap. Never happened. The bubbles accumulate the same as they did with the regular city water. My dishes in my dishwasher comes out no differently than they did before I had this system, as a matter of fact, I experienced no difference in the water after I got the system. My drinking water was already being filtered through my fridge.

Now lets get to what I'm furious about. The salesman gave his pitch, but I told him, I can't afford this system, I'm a single mom that just put everything into my house. He offered me a nice intrest rate to finance it and a 4 year supply of soaps and cleaning products, but my concern was if I'd be able to keep up with the payments. I expressed this to him and was told that at anytime I didn't want it anymore, I could call Rainsoft and they will come pick it up and I would owe nothing more than what I had paid up to that point. When I asked about maintaining the system, because I didn't want anything that would cost me money ongoing, I was told I could buy the salt from Home Depot and put it in myself, which I did, and that it would need a filter change annualy which I could also get from Home Depot, but included in the cost was a yearly maintance. I was told that once a year I can have them come out and change my filter at no charge to me. This all sounded good so I signed the paper, which, I was NEVER given a contract, just the finacial agreement stating what my interest would be that goes to American Finco. When the system was installed, they installed it wrong; my water was running very slow and water was shoting out of the hardware they added to my sink. They came the next day and fixed it. So a year goes by and I call to have them come change my filter. I was told it would cost me $175. I told them that I was told I recieved a yearly maintanace. They said that was only in the first year and I used that up the day after I had it installed. How are they going to use that as my service call when they insalled it wrong. Anyway, I told them the conversation I had with the salesman, and they told me, don't know why he told you that, but that's not the policy and it will cost me this amount each year for them to replace the filter. Screw that, so I went to Home Depot to buy a filter and install myself, but guess what, that was another lie. Home Depot doesn't carry Rainsoft filters, or any that you can use with the system. So now I'm stuck with a system that I can't use because It hasn't been serviced since purchased in 2008, I wasn't able to keep up with payments and now this has went on my credit report as delinqent, the interest has when sky high on this, and, they didn't give me 4 years of household products because I ran out of everything back in Dec. I don't know how to unhook the system and I'm afraid to drink the water comming out of my faucet now so I'm spending more money buying bottled water for my daughter and I to drink.

I just came into a couple extra hundred dollars so I called Rainsoft to have the damn thing maintanced. I work 8am - 5pm, Mon-Fri which is the only times they have service guys on the road. No evening or weekend hours. So I'm supposed to take off work loosing more money to sit at home waiting for them. I don't think so. What I do think is that I should contact all that has complaints, we all get in touch with my attorney and file a class action law suit against these lying bastards.

Ripoff
All comparable softeners are basically the same from one company to another with the exception of the control head.
Quality and value is about the same.
To give you an idea of how much over priced a rainsoft conditioner is,
you could buy a contr0l head of equal value from some other company like Fleck for instance and install it in place of a Rainsoft head on your Rainsoft system and you would have a softener that would perform as well as if not better than your softener with a Rainsoft head!

The bonus???? You would have saved yourself roughly $2300!!!
Is Rainsoft a rip off? You decide!

1 hour 15 minutes I'll never get back
I, like many others got a similar cold call about someone coming out to test my water system. They said that it would take about 15 minutes and that there would even be a fun experiment for my kids to do. They also said that I would receive a $20 gift card to Walmart for agreeing to the test. Last year someone from our town came out to test our water and said it was fine, and it only took 5 minutes. I thought that it was the same people coming to check it again, I was wrong. The guy showed up at 6:30 and didn't start until 6:40. Meanwhile, my kids are fussy, one hasn't finished her homework and the other two need to take baths. Needless to say, my wife was not happy. He then begins the demonstration and he does a good enough job showing me that the water from my tap was dirtier than the water that he ran through his filter. Still, I'm wondering how much this is going to cost me and if the town said my water was fine, do I really need this. I mentioned that I was leaving for Mexico in two days and he said, really, well you know the only difference between water in the US and in Mexico is that we can afford the chemicals. Really? Oh, is that why I nor anyone else I know has ever gotten sick from drinking the water in the US, but my wife has gotten sick from drinking the water in Mexico. Anyway, he kept asking if my wife would come downstairs because he wanted to do the demo for both of us, but she didn't and he said that he would continue the demo anyway but that it was against policy. I finally just asked him, how much? To which he relplied $7000. But, that it was only going to cost me $139 a month and that between the money that it was going to save me on my electric bill and the money I was already spending on cleaning supplies that it would actually save me money. He also even offered to give me 10 years worth of cleaning supplies if I agreed to buy. If the product was a good as he claimed, why would he offer all of these incentives? Plus after over an hour of listening to this song and dance, there was no experiement for my kids, my daughter got mad at me because I didn't help her with her homework, my wife yelled at me, and I didn't even get the Walmart gift card! Rainsoft, just so no!

broke after 6 month
Lets just say never buy a rainsoft water softener.I bought the system about 2 years ago. It stop working 6 months after I got it. It froze up the first winter I had it. A neighbor called me at work one saturday morning to tell me there was water coming out the side of my house and going all down the side of the street. I rushed home and found water shooting out the side of the rainsoft system. I called the company they told me they did not work on weekends and i said I had to cut my water off to stop it from shooting out the system so I dont have any water. They said they can come to my house monday afternoon ( hello I dont have any water) . Then they said they are going to charge me $90.00 just to come out to my house thats not including the cost for repairs.Bullshit it's suppose to have a lifetime warranty. I am a single mother just trying to give my daughter clean water. I cant afford to keep paying them everytime the rainsoft system breaks. My neighbor told me to call clean water systems this other water system company so I did he came to my house that same day. They had to cut 2 pc pipes( I think thats what you call it) rejoin them without going through the water system just so I can have water again. It was a nightmare! I've called the company asked if they can buy back there water system and they said no now they said they want to charge me $175.00 to fix it. They can at least fix it for free for all the crap they put me through. Im out of 3, 700.00 dollars with this water system that doesn't even work. I learned my lesson I will never buy anything that I dont absolutely need. So if you read this please don't go through what I did say no to Rainsoft water system!
