Lousiest Customer Service
I went to the deli to buy a chicken family pack along with some chicken strips. They refused to bag it. I asked them where my bag was, and the employee said: "We don't HAVE none". I said: "How about you don't be a jerk about it and tell me where my bag is". She said: "Put the order in your cart and they bag it up front". Even though I did have a cart, I told her off with: "What if I didn't have a cart and this is all I came here for? I'd probably drop and spill it all over the floor!" Her: "OK, I'll GET a bag". She gets another employee and tells her: "Go get a bag from the bakery to bag this". She responds with: "NO!!!" Me: "What?" Her: "It's our policy". Me: "OK then, I'll just make sure not to come back here again." While I'm leaving with my things, they get a bag from the bakery and yell, "Here's your bag you wanted". I said, "NO. KEEP YOUR BAG!!!" I wanted to leave everything right where it was (including the deli order) and go to Save Mart, but realized "What use would that be? Management would have no idea and other people would be mad over this too".
I brought it up to one of the managers (he was at checkout). The conversation went somewhat like this:
Him: How are you doing today?
Me: Well, I was doing fine earlier...
Him (cuts me off): Uh-Oh! What happened?
Me: Do you have a manager?
Him: I'm one of them
Me: Great. Explain why this isn't bagged back there
Him: That's our policy
Me: IT'S RIDICULOUS!!!
Him: We have our reasons
Me: Let me guess, because you want to lose business
Him: No
Me: You're making it look that way
Him: It's the way the economy and prices are these days
Me: You shouldn't care about that. You are a large business that should have enough money already.
Him: We do, but we have to save money to keep this business going
Me: Well, you guys have the LOUSIEST customer service I have ever seen
Him: I'm sorry about all of this
He double-bags the deli order. I was thinking, "What use is that? That's probably why he said the prices for the bags themselves were high. They wouldn't seem that way if he bagged that only once instead of wasting the bags, would they?"
Him: Want me to give you your chicken free?
Me: NO!!!
Him: What? No free chicken?
Me: I pay for what I get. (I rejected the offer because he would think I was making up the story just to get some free chicken)
Him: Want me to get the full management team down here?
Me: Why? You told me your policy already!
Him: Here's your receipt
Me: ...for the last time because I'm not coming back here again
Him: Have a nice day
Me: Whatever
I walked out.
My business is going to the deli in Super Walmart from now on, and nobody is changing my mind. I even overheard somebody say: "This is SO much better than Raley's" there.
