On 10/22/08 Raymond's Cleaners slammed my American Express card against my expressed consent, without my signing the charge slip and for a service they clearly never even performed. Canvas duvet cover brought in for annual cleaning approximately 1 week prior to 10/21/08. I was told it would be ready by 10am Tuesday 10/21/08. I came in late in the afternoon on Tuesday 10/21/08 and it was not there. The manager called the servicing location and then told me they typically procrastinate on large items because they take so long to do but that they would "Do it now" and I could pick it up when they opened on 10/22/08 at 7am. I told her I did not want it rushed - and would wait another day if need be for it to be done right. She assured me it would be fine. I returned 10/22/08 about 11:10am. She hung it up and ran the charge slip for my signature. I did not sign it - I saw they had pressed over the buttons onto and through to the other side, leaving a big imprint into the navy fabric. Subsequently, I saw all the buttons had been done like this. I then saw a big creasemark and stain, whereupon I opened it up in front of she and her husband and discovered there were huge pressed creasemarks all over it and all the stains/dirt spots were still there AND some new dirt! ALL the down "fuzz" was also still there all over it. I informed her that clearly they had left it crumpled up on a floor, uncleaned and when she called late the prior afternoon they just rush pressed it and did not even clean it. I said I was NOT paying for a service never performed and that they dirtied it and made it worse even by pressing the dirt into the fabric. I left without signing the charge slip. I discovered they charged my card anyway, despite my expressing I was NOT paying for a service never performed. I will keep it in its current state until this matter is resolved. Last year they cleaned it and did a beautiful job. It was pressed nicely and the down fuzz and dirt were removed. These are obviously very dishonest merchants.
