Ripped in NJ

Platimun Protection
Platimun Protection is a rip off. First was told they did work on saturdays. First time the replaced the crap I bought. Two days off form work. One day for them to look at. A day for them to replacement the piece of crap. The driver was late into The evening for a morning delivery. Which lasted another month and broke in the same place. And after a month they will come on Saturday between 2:00 PM and 5:00PM. Shopped their for 15 years. Now the Salesmen and Managers lie when you buy. The play with the price like a car salesmen. They tell you the Web price and sku are not in their system. Their product are seconds they deliver. Read the BS on the back of their sales contract. Its there because their crooks. They have on complaint department. E mail their top brass you will get no responce. Could care lees about you after the sale. They are just out to make a quick buck. Will never go back again. Unless to dump their crap off in their front lot. The staff should ware Polyester Suits.

Warranty?? Yea right!! RUN and go to Bob's!!
OK, we purchased the Natuzzi leather sectional APRIL 27, 2010 for over $4k and the Magnussen Home lift top cocktail table for over $400 WITH the Platinum Protection Warranty for another $300. Well, Well, JUNE 3oth we had the table replaced due to the finish coming off. And THAT was due to plain weekly cleaning using products such as Pledge as Raymour & Flanigan recommended. NOT!! The so-called "solid wood" finish came off and that had to be replaced 2 months after we purchased it. At the same JUNE 30th technician visit the corner piece and the armless piece of the secional had like NO filling/stuffing in it on the top cushions so THOSE pieces had to be replaced as well. They bring me new pieces but this time, the pillows were so over stuffed with filling/stuffing that it was horrible looking!! I refused to take them but the tech guy told me to take them now and in time the large puffiness will go down and look normal and match the others. We waited and waited and got through the holidays without any aggrevation and NOW, we Fwd to JANUARY 19th when I had the next tech guy come out because of the same problems with the "solid wood" table finish coming off AND the same 2 sectional pieces. The filling/stuffing was still SO huge and puffed ut and it never went down AND the the other piece lost the filling/stuffing on the top of the corner of it again!! The tech guy tried blaming it on my animals. UMMM, I have a dog gate not allowing any of the animals in the living room and he knew that but to try and void out my warranty he noted that the dogs puffed out the section and caused the filling/stuffing to loose itself on the other piece. THAT is absurd when the dogs aren't even in that room to begin with. I requested another tech guy to come out and take a look and he did on JANUARY 27th and this time the tech guy told me that in fact he DID see that the cushions looked odd with the over stuffed filling whereas the other guy a week before said that he didn't notice anything wrong and then changed his mind and tried blaming it on the dogs. On FEBRUARY 2nd the overly rude customer service girl calla me yet again to tell me that there is nothing wrong with my furniture and that they WON'T be replacing it. She kept stating to me that I should keep the dogs off of the furniture!! She went on to say that pet hair voids out the warranty as well as the pets being on the couch. I told her that I knew what she was trying to do, trying to get my warranty null and void but I explained over and over and over again that the dogs DO NOT go in the living room and that is why there is a gate that is closed and locked. I told her to point out anywhere in the warranty contract where it says that pets are NOT allowed on the furniture AND where pet hair VOIDS OUT the warranty. She refused to answer me. Now, I'm headed to small claims court because we purchased a warranty that is not being upheld but not only that, that they are not acknowledging the manufacturers warranty which is in effect for the firat 1 year before the protection warranty takes effect. I explained to the customer service agent that because the same problem keeps happening, that I am being delivered pieces in this condition and made to believe that I have to keepo them that after 3 times of the same complain a lemon law policy can brought into effect and she ackknoledged that as well and that is why they will not use the manufacturers warranty for the 2nd time because they don't want me to be able to thenuse the protection warranty for a 3rd time warranting the furniture to go into a lemon law act.

LIED BIG TIME
I purchased a dining room table with chairs in early September 2010. The sales person was explicitly asked if the item was in stock. He said it was and told me I could take it that day. Problem for me was that I had no room for it until October 2, 2010. I took the day off after the sales person said the tablpwe was sold to me and would sit and be waiting for my OCt 2, he explicitly said IT WILL NOT BE SOLD TO ANYONE ELSE. On Sept 30, 2010 I get a call from a customer service rep who tells me that she wanted to give me an update on my purchase... the table should be in by the end of October or November. Of course you can imagine I told her that was unacceptable, and then I cancelled the order. She even suggested I come in and pick a new table, one they had in stock. The audacity... if I wanted a different table I would have picked that one.
I'll never do business with them again, and I've told everyone I know to avoid them. I will call to make sure this credit account with them is cancelled.

No Interest For 12 Months - Not so
We went to the store based on the one year
free financing advertisement. We then bought furniture for my
daughter's apartment. The sales person was very clear about the
purchase being 1 year interest free. We signed and initialized the
purchase agreement which does not contain a due date.
The Wells Fargo payments were made in 12 installments on time. At the
end of the 12 month period we received an additional statement saying
we owed another payment for interest as the total was not payed by the
due date. Turns out the due date for the entire amount was one month from the date of purchase.
I have paid Wells Fargo as I do not want to compromise my credit
rating. However I feel that the information provided at the time of
sale is intentionally ambiguous leading many other people to make the
same mistake we did. It is this kind of subtle sales strategy which
can lead consumers to pay more for a product than they intended.
I have file a complaint with the attorney general in NY hoping to have
this policy investigated.

Bed Bugs
In October 2008, I purchased a bedroom set only since I already had a new box spring and mattress. Within one month, I noticed bites but had no idea what they were. The bites went away but returned in April 2009. My primary physician told me they were bed bug bites. R&F swore up and down they were not responsible for the bugs but I've been living in my apt. for 15 yrs. without incident. The exterminator advised that the bugs must have traveled in R&F's truck since they transport used and new furniture together. Also, the bugs hide in the cold months and return around Spring so it's a horrific experience that may never end.
Almost 2 years later, I'm still trying to get rid of the bugs, and may have to throw out the bed that's not even two years old.
Buyers please be aware when considering a purchase with R&F. They will not take responsibility for this problem which can be very costly and lasting.

Delivery time
Found a leather sofa and love seat at R&F on January 2, 2010. The sales rep assured us that the furniture would be delivered before January 23. We were having a party for 24 people that day. There was no reason not to believe her, the R&F adds on TV even boasted 3-day delivery!!! Well long story short the furniture FINALLY arrived February 24th, long after the party. I had given away my old couch, believing that the new furniture was promised on a certain date. The day of delivery Feb 23 I took the day off off work they said delivery would be between 9:30am and 3:30. That a HUGE window! At 4:30 there was no sign of a delivery truck or phone call. I called customer service, they "let me know" that the truck had run off the road and was stuck!!! "you'll be the first delivery tomorrow" she said. SOOOO now the next day I can't go to work again!!! The stuck truck did arrive the next day after 10:30 am--I don't think that was there first delivery!!!
This big box chain store will never get my business again. I'll keep the smaller guy in business and deal with humans from customer service who give a damn!!

Scratched Dining Room Table
I purchased a dining room table, 4 chairs and a server from Raymour and Flanigan and when the table was put together I noticed a scratch on it. I contacted the company immediately and they told me that the scratches would probably be able to be buffed out. When the repairman came out he put on a mask and started to use some strong chemicals. I couldn't stop him in time to let him know I have severe allergies and asthma and I cannot tolerate any kind of strong smells. It appeared he used some kind of lacquer or similar agent but I got so sick I had to tell him to leave and I had to get out. I put my fan on and opened all the windows and called the customer service department and explained the situation. By the time they got involved the damage was already done. I had been sickened by the smell and haven't felt good since then. I feel it is definitely coorelated to the chemical(s) that he used in trying to repair the scratches. I should have been forewarned about this and Raymour and Flanigan should know better than to send out people without letting you know what to expect.
I should be compensated for all my aggravation and health issues because of their lack of concern.

Late Delivery of wrong funiture!
We ordered a lovely leather sectional sofa. They gave a 4 hour window in which they would deliver. They did not; they were late. They dropped off a left-handed sectional when we ordered a right-handed one. (My family member that accepted it should have noticed but they didn't). They realized their mistake when they tried to deliver my sofa to someone that wanted the left-handed sectional. They called and said they'd be back in a FEW DAYS to correct it. We told them no, that was not acceptable. They finally came and switched the sofas around 7:30pm, breaking the screen door while doing so. After they left I found a nick in my wall too.
And of course, no one at the store cared at all when I called to complain. It was like talking to my kitchen table. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Lousy Service
I'm glad to see from this website that I'm not the first customer they tried to take advantage of. I wish I had seen this before shopping with them!
My husband and I purchased a coffee table from them on May 21. The salesperson was less than friendly and barely spoke a word to us. Maybe he was mad we weren't dropping $10k. He filled out forms on the computer and told us we could pick up the table the NEXT DAY. Then he took us to pay for it.
One of the two women behind the counter asked him if he had checked the inventory. He hadn't. So she checked the computer, made a call, and found out that they didn't have the table in stock. By this time, we had already been charged for the table and had put the purchase on our credit card! They told us that the table would be in the NEXT WEEK, and they would call us at the beginning of that week to confirm what day it would be delivered so I could pick it up.
I received no phone call. I called 8 days after we ordered the table and was informed that it would not be arriving until the END OF JUNE and there was nothing they could do about it! My husband works in retail and he was asking if they could order from another store, or other tricks he knows about. No go on any of it. By this time, we had already paid off our credit card statement which included this bill. Needless to say, we were pretty annoyed. The lady told us she refunded our purchase. I'm stalking my credit card online, I hope she really did refund. I won't be too shy to tell people to NEVER shop here! What an awful company!

Irresponsible tractor trailer driver
On Sunday, April 26, 2009, around 3:30 pm, we were on Rt. 81 starting through Syracuse. We were traveling north in the left lane specified for traffic heading to Watertown. A Raymour & Flanigan tractor trailer came up to us fairly fast and tooted his horn. We were already slightly above the 50 mph speed limit. Then he sailed past us on the right side blowing his horn and waving at us. He proceeded to swing back & forth around cars over three lanes. When he finally slowed down to exit right, we caught up to him. He made ugly hand signals at us. The trailer license number was 1491D1. The driver was a thin man wearing glasses.
