Subscription problem!
This company is always asking to extend your subscription long before it is due to expire. I let them do this two times and both times they screwed up. I am now getting tow magazines each month, one in my name which will expire in June 2009 and one in my wife's name which will expire in April 2008. The last time I subscribed my son was to get a gift subscription and that took a year to get resolved. I would like to see a phone number for the subscription department listed in their magazine. At least then you would be able to explain to someone what the problem is.

Receiving "fake bills"
I received a bill from Reader's Digest and when I wrote to the company and asked why I was receiving a bill when my subscription was paid for the next nine months, I received an email back that stated:

"The mailing you recently received from us is not a bill. We send out vouchers to our preferred customers. You may choose to take advantage of the special offer or you may wish to disregard the offer. We apologize for any confusion we may have caused. Your current subscription is paid until May 2008."

My so-called "special offer" was at a higher rate than a normal subscription!! And nowhere on it does it state it's not a bill. This should be illegal, if it isn't already!

Poor service!
Reader's Digest has been conducting sweepstakes for Rs.22,00,000/= for almost a year now. They keep sending mailers advising readers that they are just a couple of stages away from winning Rs.22 lacs. with each response they send two envelopes for replies and with each of these mails, they ask you to purchase a product from them. If you agree to buy the product, one must use the envelope marked YES, for which postage is paid by addressee. if you choose not to buy their product, you must use the NO envelope, for which postage is to be paid by sender not the addressee.

If a lottery is meant to be fair, such distinguishing marks or references should not be made on the envelopes. They send such letters to people all over India, but the results are published only in Mumbai newspapers. their explanation is if you are a winner, you would have been notified by post.

Actually courtesy demands that the results be declared in all newspapers in all major cities. This sweepstakes is a cleverly concealed fraud aimed at marketing their other products.

Their sweepstakes procedure should be validated by a proper authority before they are permitted to carry on the current sweepstakes.

Fraud and cheating!
My husband ordered a subscription for me from Reader's Digest in June of 2007. In July I received June's magazine and on August 10, 2007 I received July's and August. I had already purchased these at the store. They should not send back issues as part of a new subscription.

Beware!

Fraud free gift order!
Like many, many others, I received a card in my Reader's Digest magazine this month stating that I had a free surprise gift waiting at www.rd.com/surprise. First I was connected to EBay then other useless websites. I am surprised at Reader's Digest. They should address this confusion and explain the problem. That is, if there is one.

Unable to locate Free Surprise
Following instructions to go to www.rd.com/surprise, I am unable to know which of the many options to go to to see what the free surprise is. Can't you make it simple, especially for those like me who are not highly sophisticated on computers?

Beware of free gift from Reader's Digest!
To get a so-called "free" gift, you are required to examine another of their products. I don't want to mess with any mailings that I have to examine and return to them. There's always a catch.

Reader's Digest is a fraud!
So, is this a marketing ploy to see how many people will complain about/or to Reader's Digest regarding the so-called "Free Surprise Gift" which awaits preferred subscribers?

This is how brand names begin to lose credibility with the general public.

I will never subscribe to this magazine again!
Surprise... What surprise??? Talk about the run around! It sends you to unpteen sites -- none of which offer you any 'gift'. How can you claim a gift when you are sent to sites that want nothing but money. Shame on Readers Digest. I will never subscribe to their magazine again. NEVER!!!
