free surprise
I ordered a new subscription for Reader's Digest and the first issue was acc0mpanied by a card giving an internet address and saying a free surprise gift was waiting for me. When I went to the site all that was there was a box wrapped in a ribbon and an arrow pointing down with the words sign in below but no place to sign in. Guess the surprise was on me.

wiped out checking account
My elderly father keeps getting calls from what shows on the caller ID as "US READER" My father who has alzheimers gave them bank information and the company took all the money out of his account. $1, 290.00...If there would have been more money they would have taken more.

BEWARE. I will be filling more complaints after I get more information. Just wanted everyone to get a heads up.

Nikon Contest
What a joke. Readers Digest sends out a card to win a digital camera and there is no special website to go to about this to enter an access code, whats up with that.So much for entering.

No such Site
Readers Digest is fast becoming a business of "BAD REPUTE". They lure you in using questionable tactics and underhanded methods all designed to separate you from as much money as possible. Their "Surprise Gifts", usually all made in China and of poor quality, are not worth the shiping and handling charges; all paid by the unsuspecting consumer. In 99.9% of the cases the items are unusable and end up on the junk pile! Readers Digest has certainly has lost my confidence and after over 40 years I will be severing all contact with the Company.

Surprise gift
The inset card said a free surprise gift is waiting for you...
Found the website but it offers gifts for sale. Nothing is mentioned about free surprise gift.

Readers used to be a quality booklet but in the past 15 years it has been falling on its face.

No free gift for preferred subscribers
As many people stated, I am a preferred subscriber that received a card inside the Readers Digest magazine. I tried to log on per the instructions on the card, but to no avail. Nothing!

Readers Digest has been, in the past, one of the most subscribed and reputive magazine, so for this scam to be associated with this magazine, astounds me. I cannot believe that they do not stand behind whatever it is they are offering.

false informatio
i have been a long time subscriber to the Readers Digest and also subscribe to Our Canada, having recently renewed my new subscription since I apparently had missed renewing it in 2008. I have been provided with a free entry to FAST CASH GIVEAWAY however it seems that the site which is provided www.rd.ca/ssvault- is not a legitimate site. This is a surprise to me that Readers Digest would provide wrongful information and this disturbs me. Can you enlighten me email address is askarchie @gmail.com

Fake Checks
The letter you recieve Will say it's from Readers Digest but it is'nt It is fake.
The Check that comes with it will be written to you for what ever amount mine was for 3, 797.06 it said to be from their insurance company to use for lawyer fees and so forth so you can recieve your actual winnings mine was $255, 069.00. The check company name said it was from HiLite International Broadway, Carrollton Texas (usa) I followed up on the address through the net this is a automotive tech company. Then I called the bank listed on the check whitch said National city Bank Asland Ohio The bank ran the account number on the check it was not there, then they ran the company name and they have a warning on these fake checks it is under investigation. So Please every one check out the check before you deposite it because these scammers are wiping out your accounts and overdrawling your accounts.
Thanks to Complaint Board I did my own Investigation
before I deposited the check The Bank told me to shred the check it is now recycle.
