this has been ongoing since April 9, 2010. We have always dealt with a person named Danny until last Thursday when finally we spoke with Trish. She assisted us and cleared up the matter swiftly, however, why didn’t Danny let us speak to her months ago to clear this matter? We had to constantly call and go there and call repeatedly to get this matter solved.
As stated previously we paid CASH for the car, in full on day one. We were treated rudely by another salesperson there that brought up the papers and had me sign them. During that time he slid a paper for me to sign that said I allowed a lien to be place on the car. When copies were given to me of the paperwork, the one I mistakenly signed allowing the lien, was not in there. I did not know until last week there was a lien on the car. At the time of me signing the papers I was on the phone with my insurance company to get the car insured so as to NOT drive without insurance. When I was finished signing the papers, the salesman threw the papers across the table to me. Okay people are not perfect, and make mistakes; I let that rudeness slide by. I said nothing.
We were issued a paper tag for 30 days which passed and we received no title. So both of us work daily and we put our tag we needed transferred on our car.
Someone at Motorcars wrote down the tag number of the tag we wanted transferred. About a month and half later when we did not receive a tag or title, we called. Real Motorcars Inc. which we found was already in violation of the Florida State statute Chapter 319.22.2.B for not having transferred the tags within 30 days. It ends up that when we asked them about the tags being transferred Danny said he would do it that day. We showed up there after work and he still had not done this. He promised that first thing in the morning it would be done. We called after lunch and he said he would have it tomorrow for sure. When we called the next day he said the tag number we provided him was not mine. I asked him whose it was. He said he didn’t know because it was an invalid tag number! My husband went outside of his work and gave me the tag number to call Danny back and when I read it to him he said, Oh, I’m sorry, our mistake, we just could not read our own writing. So he proceeds during the next few days to finally make it to the DMV to get the title and tags transferred. When he does this he finds out that the tag is in my husband’s name, but the car is in my name. That day we drive over after work and sign some papers to have my husband’s name on the purchase so as to use his tags. This is what we specifically told them. A few days later we called and Danny had the sticker for the registration at his office. We stopped by after work and were told it was going to be another $92.60 to have our tags transferred. At this point we were both so disgusted we paid him and walked out. Before leaving the building I noticed that the expiration date of the tag was now in my birthday! 01-10, he said that doesn’t make a difference just look at it that we got a few months for free instead of it being 10-10 my husband’s birthday. We were told that the title would be coming in the mail to our house. We rolled our eyes and walked out.
We also told Danny that we were already driving around with our tag on our car; he said that was against the law. My husband told him if they had done their job and had everything taken care of within the 30 days then we would not be driving illegally. We had no choice as we have to work!
About a month later we noticed still no title. I called the DMV and asked them to check, only to find that there is a paper with supposedly my signature on it that shows a lien on my car. Now, if the title came back to their place of business and was misfiled due to the imperfections of humans, this is numerous imperfections. Imperfect!
I also called the DMV today and found out that when a title is transferred there is a fee attached to record the lien. I think at least they should refund this to us. Imperfect?
Now we are out 9 months on our tags due to their imperfections as I told them the DMV will reimburse us however both my husband and I work full time and this is very much an inconvenience for us.
And finally we received our title in the mail Saturday July 3, 2010. Still it is not cleared until the middle or end of this week.
We also found out that someone forged my name to the title, when we questioned this we were told, “We had to in order for you to get your title” yet my husband had to go there to sign his name?
In summary, I apologize maybe crooks was too harsh of a word. But a crook does take something that does not belong to them. Our monies were taken to record a lien that should never had been placed on our title to begin with. Our time was taken away from us with the numerous phone calls to try and find out what was going on with our title. Not only our time but the gas we spent going to and from the business with no results only being told I will get it done. And not to be left out, the difference for 9 months of tag sticker paid in advance for two years, because of their negligence and imperfection we will be out of that money. Neither I nor my husband has the time to take off for that and we should NOT have to! It was due to their not paying attention to detail, especially with a cash customer not to mention forging our name on the title. Seems we could have at least been treated normally and not like we just ventured to the “Wrong Turn” of used car dealerships!
