Overcharge
I rented a movie and was charged 3 times the rental. When I called to complain a guy name"Matt" claiming to be a supervisor told me that I should call my bank and use my Card insurance to pay me the amount - He said Redbox cannot make a mistake. - May be they should solve the problems in the the world! BTW Matt has no supervisor - No wonder he sounded lost. He did not even remember his last name. Good luck to all who use Redbox.

Bad customer service
I called into redbox only to talk to this customer service agent named Dustin. That customer service representative has such a sexy voice, I agonize over the fact he couldnt tell me where he lives. When I asked, all i got was this lame response saying "north of seattle." But i live right by it! Gadzooks Dustin if you ever read this give me yo digits! Im so lonely and all I have is Redbox, I dont understand how authorizations work and need someone that doesnt know much of what they are either to explain them too me! Redbox is scam because im "mentally disabled" and cant be bothered to call Red box within a few days of my problem, and so because I dont call like a responsible human being would, I get charged exactly what Red box proposes they would. customer service... bah! I dont understand why I just cant be coddled in my mistakes like parents used to do for me.

No Refund for Non working DVD'd
Worst Place to Rent DVD'd. 30% to 40% DVD's dont work...are usually scratched...Worst, even if one complains by sending emails, either they dont respond...or respond by cliaming the DVD is fine...or simply give u a damn coupon...I NEED MY REFUND...I DONT NEED THEIR DAMN Coupon to get another scratched DVD...Redbox company should be Blacklisted and fined heavily.

False Charges
A month ago, I rented two DVD's from a local RedBox. I returned the movies, and was charged the $2.12 for having 2 movies for a day. Everything was good, I practically forgot about it considering it was a month ago. No continuous charges on my card. Today I look at my account history on my online banking. This morning I was charged $50.88 by RedBox. When I called, they said their systems never showed the return of the movies. My first question is if they weren't returned, why wasn't I ever charged the extra ammount? Why was I charged the normal amount right after returning them then?

My recommendation: don't use RedBox. I'm not claiming it's an outright scam, but I'm not ruling that out either. I've read of plenty of others with the same problem among others involving false charges. Save yourself the trouble, use Netfix or a local video rental place if you have one.

Unauthorized Charge
I rented 2 DVDs from Redbox on December 16, 2010. I returned them both on December 18, received a confirmation email and everything. Mid-January, I checked my credit card balance online before paying the bill and found I had a charge of $49.82 from Redbox. I called the customer service line and was told that one movie was returned on January 3rd and the second was never brought back. I argued, but they would not do anything. I tried to dispute the charge on my credit card, but they would not let me. Not once was I sent an email, or given a call from Redbox saying that my movies were not returned. I am a full-time college student working a part-time job. Obviously, if I wanted those movies enough, I would have purchased them for $17 each from Walmart or something and saved myself around $20. I am currently still trying to get my money back because they almost overdrafted my account by taking that much money from me. From reading other complaints on here, I can see that I'm not alone and that Redbox is a scam and needs to be shut down. I'll say one thing, I WILL get my money back, you can believe that. And I will make sure nobody I know ever rents from them again. They messed with the wrong person.

Overcharging
I have been renting from Redbox on ocassion for over 3 months, maybe 4 DVD's total in that time. One DVD was so scratched it would not play. They did refund my nights rental. Things happen. Now I am seeing on my credit card that they charge me for nights after I returned the movie, and after the date on my Redbox account says it was returned. I asked about in the My Account section, is the "date rented" the date it was reserved online, or when the DVD is removed from the Kiosk? The representative had no idea. So what that told me is they area easily charging people for an extra night. I had to call, wait on hold for a while, argue my situation and finally got the $1.09 credit. It's just not worth it. I spent over 20 min plus cell phone minutes to save a $1? I won't say to never rent from RedBox but if you do, be very careful, check for correct billing especially for online reservations and make sure to get a receipt for the return. Geez with all the driving to the kiosk to get the DVD then driving to return it, then dealing with billing issues, plus the actual rental fee it's costing about $3 a night to rent, just pay for On Demand from cable for $5 or join netflix. I don't know.

Charging Practices; Editing Content
Well, my complaint is two-fold:
1) As dozens of other complaints I have read, the Redbox charging practices are at best, questionable. I have been charged $26.00 for a DVD that they claimed was never returned twice, and though they did credit my account once, I had to fight with them to do so. Also, on several occasions, I have not been able to return a movie because the machine was full or disfunctioning. Then after contacting customer service (which you only seem to be able to do via email) the best they could offer was try another machine, with no credit for the extra costs now incurred as a result.
2) My other complaint is this, after playing close attention to several different kind of movies, I found that Redbox has edited the language and content of their DVDs, including incredibly obvious voice dubs over profanity. I can't find anywhere on their machines or their site describing this practice (other than the standard "this movie had been modified to fit your television" that comes on most DVDs) so that the customer is aware of it upfront. I don't know why and I don't what the point of carrying R rated movies is if they are going to be edited for restrict language and content but it certainly is happening.
Originally, I was really excited about this service and the convenience it offered but now all it's proved to me is that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

poor quality control practice
I have rented my last dvd from this company. There is no quality control in the product. On several occasions I have rented dvds and have been unable to watch them from start to finish without cleaning the disks. The customer assistance # is only good during the same hours I work. This is the way our future will be going with more automated services and less product quality control. I have exited the "Good old days" and entered the instant gratification future that sacrifices personal interaction. This can change when you learn the names of those that help you everyday. Dont just say hello, Say hello "John" or thank you "Sara" calling people by thier name can help save our humanity just a little everyday, and if im wrong who cares. it will not cost you a thing to try and it will not take up anymore time out of your day. Your going to say hi to people or answer them when tey ask how you are doing, just use thier name in your response. As for Red Box. no more business from me. I will not reward a company that does not take responsibility for a poor product and poor customer service.

Redbox charges
I rented from Redbox & returned the movie a few days late. Now I find a $50 charge on my bank account. When I called their "customer service" line they claimed I had not only kept the movie, but that I had rented from them 56 times!!! I don't believe they even have that many titles available. I've rented from them maybe 4 times at the most.

What a terrible service! I will NEVER rent from them again & I'm prepared to take legal action as well.

Charges
A DVD was rented in late August, 2010 and returned the next day. The DVD in the case did not match the title on the case. On January 4, 2011, our account was debited for $36.43. Customer service was called and we were told the movie was not returned. The best they could do was refund us $15 in 7-10 business days. The supervisor did state that he would have the box 'serviced'. and if the movie was located, the remaining balance would be refunded. It is unlikely that the movie will be found, and I have to call back next Tuesday to obtain a status. A charge 5 months after the fact is completely unacceptable and there is little recourse. I will be sending an email via "Contact Us" at redbox.com, as well as writing to the CEO of Coinstar, the parent company of Redbox. We will not be using Redbox again!
