Broken equipment
I rented a movie online and was promptly charged for on my credit card. When I went down to pick up the movie I found that the vending maching was broken and had an out of order sign on it. I called Redbox to notify them and the said that they would refund my money. Why are they even charging me. I never picked up the movie. I went into the Walgreens and spoke to the lady a the counter and she told me that I was far from the first person to report that machine and they keep taking reservations for movies to be dispensed from this maching. While I was there several people people came up, shook their heads disgustedly and drove away. I ran into those same people 2 blocks down at Blockbuster a little while later. If the machine is down they ought to be able to take it offline on their website.

Took my money!!! Overcharged!!
I have spent a lot of money renting videos from Redbox - Never Again!! Last week, I returned 3 movies and the next day found out that I was charged FULL PRICE of each video! I had the movies for 2 days! I called the company and they apologized and said that their computer crashed and charged EVERYONE full price for EVERY return! Wow, did they hear about a stock market tip or what? Anyway, they said they will credit my account and gave me two free codes for 2 movies. Well it has been a week now and I have not seen my refund yet. I'm really disappointed in this company and will NEVER rent from them again! Just be careful and spread the word - they are crooks!!

Unauthorized charges
I started using redbox a couple of months ago. All was fine until one day I went to return a DVD and box where I rented was down. No big deal, came back the next day, still down, next day, same thing. I called redbox they told me that if I wanted to be credited for the three days I should have called sooner. I explained to them that this was the first time this had happened to me and I didn't know the procedure. Surely the could see that the box had been down all week. The customer service rep was rude and abrupt and told basically told me too bad. She refused to put me through to a manager. They just charged my card and as of now have not responded to three emails I have sent.

Every company is great when they are making money and things are running well. It's how a company responds to a complaint that shows their true colors. Redbox failed miserably. I would strongly recommend that you do not give this company your credit card.

charging fees when video returned already
I rented several movies and returned the same movies. Now, over 60 dollars has been charged to my credit card due to keeping the movies for 14 days. I called twice and was put on hold. Eventually, I spoke with someone (Collette) who staes I returned one movie 2 days ago. Absolutely untrue. After much fuss I was told I will get a $5 refund!!?? No where near what I was charged. They do not issue receipts when you return your movies or when you rent unless you put in your email address. I declined putting in my remail address not knowing this is the only way I can get a receipt.

says I did not return movie
On May 8, 2009 while vacationing in Tn. I rented a movie from Redbox. Then on June 15, 2009 I find on my bank statement that they charged me $27.44 because I did not return the movie.

But on May 9, 2009 I did indeed return the movie. Never again will I rent from Redbox.

Now I know why when you call them, they are sorry for the wait due to a high call volume.

I don't trust them.

Machines Not Accepting Returns
I rented from Redbox last week. I originally attempted to use another movie rental machine at my local grocery store, but it got messed up when it was retrieving my movie, so I decided to try Redbox. I had to search for a location that had a working one, then found out the one that I ended up using didn't have the movie I wanted. It of course was available at the location I first tried, but that Redbox was out of order. I attempted to take the movie back the next day. The Redbox at Walmart and 2 different Walgreens locations were either not accessable, not working or wouldn't accept my return. So, I had to pay for another night on a movie I was trying to return. I attempted to call their toll-free number this morning and sat on hold for 10 minutes. I then attempted to email them, but kept getting an error and it wouldn't send my email. Does anyone else have problems like this? I think I will discontinue my use of Redbox and go back to MovieCube.

OVERCHARGED!
Redbox worked great for a very long time for us. Within the past week, however, they have charged us 7 TIMES amounts between $10 and $18/ WE HAVEN'T RENTED THAT MANY MOVIES! I called to complain and they just argued saying the charges were for movies we rented months ago and that for me to prove they overcharged me, I have to call back during normal business hours and have Redbox do a conference call with me and my bank. I have never heard of that before and I just returned my movie without watching it and WILL NEVER USE REDBOX AGAIN! EVER! I can't believe they did this. They were good for so long, and all of a suuden they turn and bite me in the butt. PLEASE DON'T USE REDBOX. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. They do it discreetly, too, so it takes time for you to realize what's going on and then when you find out, there are so many random charges spread out that it's hard to communicate to the customer service rep what is invalid and what is not.

charged me for a movie that I returned
This company looked like it had a great idea - movies at the grocery store for only $1.00 a night. I have used it many times this past year, they had a customer for life! However, one day I noticed Redbox charged me $26.00 on my credit card; when I called, they said I had not returned a movie I had rented. Problem was, I definitely returned that movie - I remember very clearly. Also, I returned another movie at the same time and the other one showed as returned. When I called to complain, I was told that it would take between 10-14 days for someone to go and look in the machine to find the movie, and that they would credit me back the money when they found the movie. If they didn't find it, I was out of luck! I don't know what happened, but I was notified that $10.00 hd been credited to my account. $10.00!!?? For what? I will not be using this company again - I'll just join Netflix or buy movies from the cable company. $1.00 sounds like a great deal - until the decide to rip you off and you have NO appeal! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!
