Faulty Goods & lack of communication
On the 8th September 2009 I purchased a remote control aeroplane from this company as a birthday present for my son at a cost of £135.00. He put it together on the 13th, as per the instructions, carried out all the tests but it never left the ground as it lost signal at around 15 meters. I e-mailed the company on the 14th. Since then, I have received a handful of emails from them, all stalling for time. I have lost count of the number I have sent. I finally received a returns code just before Christmas but before I posted it, had it checked out by a local model shop who confirmed it faulty (I have this in writing) but also that the quality of this imported model was so poor, it was unlikely to make more than one flight anyway.
My credit card company reckon they can do nothing as 3 months has elapsed. I am in contact with Consumer Direct and have sent a 'Faulty Goods & the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended)' by registered post.
So far in 2010, I have received one email from Remote Island, stating that they are dealing with a Christmas back log.
I am loathe to let this company get away with this - I can ill afford to waste this sort of money. Guess the next step is the Small Claims Court. How I wish in September last year I had not been mesmerised and won over by such an endearing and colourful website, a wolf in sheeps clothing if ever there was one.

never use this company definate scam
This all started on 12th of december my fiance ordered a remote control helicopter to the sum of £26 as a christmas present for our son. The item never came and in the first week of january went on the website to try and track the order to which the reply was: No details at this time, I found this odd and then proceeded to check the website for a contact number name etc. My suspicions were then aroused as all I could find was a PO Box address no names and an email address. I sent several emails giving them 10 days in which to provide a full refund because we had sent emails about the missing item first of all and one measley reply came back eventually asking what the nature of our problem was. This was extremely frustrating obviously this person was having a laugh they down right knew the nature of the problem because they had had 3 emails telling them the nature of the problem.
To cut a long story short this all started on the 12th december, it is now the 30th January and today we received another one lined answer saying that they are tracdking order and will advise. Well I would advise anybody to steer well clear of this website people like this should not be allowed to run a business. They don't know how to, no apologies no mention of the refund, I am quite sure our money has gone the same as the other guy on this website who lost a substantially bigger amount of money from this company than us. My only advice stay away remote island.com stinks more than any company I have ever had problems with before.

Bad service
Terms & Conditions state should have 7 day cooling off period. On 2nd day of plane arriving I e-mailed Remote Island to ask for returns authorisation code as plane was too big (not faulty). No reply. Another e-mail sent by me next day, also asking whether they had a contact phone number. No reply. I then sent another e-mail telling them I would send them a letter requesting this by registered post, as they would not answer my e-mails, which I did. Next day they sent me an e-mail asking what the nature of the problem was. I e-mailed straight back saying there was no problem, as stated in previous e-mails. The plane was just too big. Again, no reply. 2 days later I then sent another e-mail saying I had no alternative but to send the plane back with no authorisation code as no-one would give me one. I sent it back. However, this was now over the 7 day returns date. I sent the plane back by registered post with a letter complaining that no-one would send me an authorisation code. Someone signed for the package but to-date I have had no correspondence from the company and no refund of money. Obviously, the plane was returned after 7 days but how can you return an item if no-one will send you an authorisation code within that time and refuse to talk to you?
