Bad service

This has to be the worst rental car company experience I've ever had. I had to rent a car in November 2008 because my car was in the shop. Unfortnately my car had to stay in the shop longer than anticipated. No one at the rental car company felt the need to get in touch with me about returning the car until a day or so after my deposit ran out. I did constantly stay in touch with the rental car company but I guess I wasn't fast enough because the Fairfax County Police Department also contacted me and told me to return the car a day or so after my deposit ran out. I explained to the Fairfax County Police Department on two ocassions what the situation with my car was and they disregarded what I had to say and treated me like I was a criminal because I guess that's all that rents from this particular RENT-A-WRECK in Alexandria, VA!!!

Anyway, after this ordeal, my advice is to stay far away from this car rental company at any costs because the second the deposit runs out they will have FAIRFAX COUNTY's finest after you (and to think they are supposed to protect and serve...don't make me laugh!!)

and not to mention, a more reputable rental car company would have simply asked for another form of payment or billed me upon return of the car which was only two days after my deposit ran out!!!

GO FIGURE!!!

Not to mention, they wound up charging me more in per mile charges which ultimately ended up costing me significantly more than if I stayed with one of the top rental car companies...

THIS WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN AGAIN!!

No Vehicle

I reserved a car from Rent-A-Wreck Seattle in March for a two-week holiday in September 2008. I showed up at the airport in the evening (having flown from overseas) and called the number Rent-A-Wreck had given me for the free shuttle to collect my car. I was told that they had no vehicles so they could not honor the reservation I had made even though I had given them my credit card details and had a reservation number. I asked them what I should do and the man on the end of the line just kept repeating that he had no vehicles. I could try again the following day but as I needed transport to get from the airport to my motel for that night and to head north the following day at 6 am, I was forced to trawl the airport car rental counters, finally coming away with a minivan (for only two of us) for $175 more than my original quote from Rent-A-Wreck. Several days later, I did find out that they had called my home (we do not have cell phones) and let my mother know that a car had come back later that night but it was too late. I emailed Rent-A-Wreck to complain about their unreliability when we returned from holiday, but several weeks have gone by and there has been no response.
