Refund Policy
I tried Rhino mart (rhinomart, rhinomart.com) for the first time last week (Feb 18, 2010). I placed an order and paid for an item they advertised as having in stock. In reality, they advertised something they did not have in stock (Gormiti figures). After I paid for my purchase and they had my money, I heard nothing from them for 4 days so I emailed them about the status of my order and they informed me the item, while advertised as available, was really not available. They did respond within 24 hours to my email. I was happy about that and gives me some level of confidence this is not a scam. They said if they get it back in stock in the next 7 days, they will ship it out. That sounds fair enough. Now here is the part everyone should be aware of when dealing with them. If they do not get it back in stock, they told me they are KEEPING MY MONEY and allowing me to use it as a credit in the future. This is no good for me as the only item I was interested in was the item I ordered..which they did not have even thought they indicated it was available at the time of order. Basically, they took my money for something that they had no ability to ship and then are keeping my money. I might be able to understand them keeping my money as a credit if they shipped it to me and I returned it for some reason. However, I believe it to be of questionable ethics to advertise something you don't have AND keep customer's money. I emailed them asking for a refund, not a credit. I will post a follow up in 7 days to let you know how it goes. The intent of this post is about the refund policy which, in my situation, seems unethical to me. To advertise something that you don't have (the price on this item was better than most so they get you interested with a good price), then to keep a customers money for something you were never able to ship, seems unethical. I have attached a copy of the email where they admit it was not in stock and that they are keeping my money. I hope to post a follow up message that shows this as resolved. After reading other experiences online (which I should have done more of before ordering), I am not confident I will ever see my money again. Most of the complaints I had seen online had been about product quality of used items other buyers ordered. The item I ordered was brand new, so I was not concerned about those complaints. As I have researched it more, there are complaints about this refund policy. For others looking into Rhinomart, you should be aware of how they handle refunds when THEY are to blame for the mistake.
