We have been doing our tax return there for 6 years, preparation price was around one hundred fifteen to hundred twenty. We bought a house 2 years ago and the price went to 185.00 which was fine. This year around November we got a phone call saying to please come back and they would give us a crisp 50 bill, just for coming back. We told him great, we were planing on reurning anyway, but that really made it nice. So we went back on Jan 28th and filed our taxes. Same girl always her name is Rita. Usually she turns the screen and shows their price and the added price for thr RAL which was 29.00 and additonial 27 dollars. This time she didn't do that. She was about to leave and her boyfriend was coming to pick her up.
Well the next day, she said we changed banks and they didn't approve your RAL, it was 3500.00. That had never happened to us before but it is what it is. I looked at the paper with the banks fee and noticed they charger 227.00 for preparation. We wes shocked. I called Rita and she said I don't decide the prices I just put in what you had and ya'll had 2 forms, and also this is a franchise so he can charge what he wants, so I told her to have Vern (the owner)call me. Meanwhile I looked at my sons papers who had just went there a few days before, he is 25, single, but his return was like 2500.00, but they charged him 245.00. Well I was really shocked. I told my son and he said he knew but he thought they charged by how much you made, that is really sad to take advantage of our young kids especially at this time. Anyway when Vern called back he sais "Last year you payed 185, (he wasn't the owner then) and this year you payed 227 minus the 50.00 we gave you so it was really only a charge of 197. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and even still 100 dollars mor then last year for the same thing. He went on about "we gave you 50.00 didn't we" I said yes but it was MY 50.00 so how can you act like you gave anything. And on my sons also 245.00 minus the 50 he gave him still was 1ike 190 they charged him to do the one form for him. Then he said my son had two forms which was he called it a pay to work where the irs gives you 400.00, then I said if you chargered him that for two forms why wasn't my two forms like Rita said we had. Well it was getting no where. Then I said well what about the satafaction guarantee Liberty Taxs offers, I said what about that and he said I will tell you to go somewhere else.
