Towing charges
I sold a jeep in Nevada in 2002 and it was towed in 2008 and they are trying to charge me 1853.00 for towing bill.
I proved to them I surrendered the plates to the Nevada DMV. I was told by one of their employees that was all I needed to do. Now a lady named, Lorraine is telling me I also have to prove when the insurance was cancelled. I have called my insurance and the DMV to get those records. And I told them it would take a few days yet they still call me with those automatics calls wanting me to make arrangements to pay in five days.
When I faxed them the proof, I called them and they said to call back in a day or two, which I did. The lady I spoke with then was real nice, said they recieved everything and it would be off my credit repoert in about 72 hours. Then a few weeks later I get this call from them wanting to collect a debt. I called back and everyone I spoke to was really rude. They left me on hold a long time and would not get me the people I asked to talk to.
Should I get an attorney to look at this. I do not want to pay for something that is not my problem

Harassment for towing/storage debt for car I don't own anymore!
I sold a vehicle for one dollar to a needy college student. We have several pictures of the "handing over of the keys ceremony". Eight months later, I began to get harassed by Rickenbacker, saying the car had been towed, and that I was an "interested party" to the car. It was involved in an accident, and towed, then stored. Despite providing proof of sale, including info from DMV & bill of sale, they still continue to call, usually twice a day. At first, they were nice and understanding when I told them I'd sold the car. They advised me to fax all info to get things "straightened out". Well, to make a long story short, they lied multiple times and acused ME of not ever calling them, and lied sconstantly; saying that the employee I spoke to there does not exist, saying there was no record of me ever calling them to respond to their letters, saying there was nothing noted on my account that I was disputing the bill, etc...Once, my husband picked up one of their calls because I began to rant that they were calling again and driving me crazy. He explained everything and they said that even though it may be someone else's debt, I had to pay THEM, and then sue the new owner of the car to recover my costs! Then I began to cry in frustration when my husband told me this (while they were still on the phone). Then, the lady offered to cut the billin half for us! I got on the phone and spoke to the lady, only to find out it was the SAME lady I'd spoken to before, then was told by someone else there, that no one by her name existed there, even though I recognized her voice AND name! Of cousre, she denied ever speaking with me. Needless to say, I immediately sent a formal letter of complaint and dispute, detailing my experience with them thus far, including the constand lying, and that from that point onward, there would be NO telephone conversations, and that any communications would have to be in WRITING from then on. I sent it certified letter, return reciept requested, just to cover myself. Well, guess what?? I have gotten phone calls with automated recordings to call them regarding an important business matter. My answering machine is on 24/7 now and no one in the household ever answers the home phone, all calls must be screened, PERIOD. We all use cell phones, but still, to have my home invaded every dau for a YEAR is insanity. I contacted an attorny about it and he said I'd have to sue them to get a judge's court order to leave me alone! AND, my FICO score is damaged because of them. Thank God I already have a home and established credit! Rickenbacker is a very seedy operation that has a VERY bad reputation. They are true bottom feeders!!
