I had always worked on my own car until I could not do my front brakes my self due to the special design. The brake rotors will not come off normally for resurfacing in order to fix steering wheel shimmy. They must be pressed off and on and the bearing is damaged and must be replaced. A very expensive procedure. So the dealer has an on the car lathe that resurfaces them. So they did the brake job this way for an amazingly low price of $199, hmmm.
Mysteriously within a few months this strange howl had developed. A front wheel bearing near where they worked. So it needed replacement, $380 just for it.
2 weeks later the other side started the same way. I returned and guess what, the price went up for this one to $450, the same procedure.
As soon as I began bringing the car there for service (a special deal) things started to go wrong. Wait it gets better.
In the up coming months the shimmy in front brakes had drastically returned. I went in to the same service writer (paid on commision, I know because I used to write service at a different large dealer and know how this dealer works). I was quoted $199 for a front brake job on my car incorrectly. I stressed that this car is more involved and needs the bearings pressed off and on and needs new rotors. They were well aware of this and ensured me that my price is complete just add taxes. They got my car on the rack, took it apart and low and behold they came in to the waiting room and tell me that it was going to be $789 just for the front brakes!! I could not believe this, I told that very person and others over the phone and in person what was involved and that if it was going to be an expensive repair that I did not want this done. They said there was nothing they could do to bring down the price and that the bearings need to be replaced as part of the process so the parts and labor are what makes it so expensive. I just had paid almost $800 to have those bearings pressed in. They knew I was looking for a brake job before the bearings went and it was all for nothing. Did they give me any kind of credit or price reduction? Not at all, instead they gouged me again!
And it is not over yet. My tie rod needed replacement a month later. This I could do my self, so I thought. I could not get the lug nuts off of the car! I used a pipe 6 feet long to try to loosen them and the car actually lifted up off of the jack stands and still they would not come loose. Then turning toward the ground now with the pipe the 1/2" drive 2" extension snapped in half. I brought this back to them so they would loosen the lug nuts. They argued with me after all the money i spent there and did not want to do it. After many managers and almost a half our they agreed. They had a mechanic come up with a big air driven impact wrench and could not even get them off. After the biggest impact wrench and an hour, they had to get a torch and heat it up. Now what if i was stuck on a dark road with a flat tire what would i have done? Who would have paid for the tow and inconvenience?
Don't ever get your car serviced there not even for an oil change because they will sabotage (i.e.torch on bearing to cook the grease)it if it is out of warranty (customer pay). They make huge dollars on these. They are very sneaky. In sales at other Rizza dealer ships they used to have secrete microphones in the negotiation rooms so they can hear couples talk over the numbers before they come back with lower prices. Unbelievable!!
