In Oct 2008 I contracted with Kip Lambdin (RJ's Construction) Berea, KY. to build a 28x32 detached garage. He was to provide materials, labor and permits. First issue was time, it was finished in May 2009. eight months to do a maximum of 90 day job. Of course if he had more than one person at a time working on it it may have been finished sooner. Then there was the lein the lumber company had on our house because he failed to pay the bill for the lumber. Fortunately this happened before he finished so I still had the remaining money we owed him to take care of this. He smiled and told me he appologised for it but he wasn't sorry (wtf?). The real issue (if that isn't enough) is because he had told me about three months into the build that the truss company was running behind and it was going to take a while to get trusses he wanted permission to build them. I told him as long as they would do what I wanted (free span 32 ft) I didn't care. This was fairly early in the build and he was fighting bad weather also it was before we had any issues. Weeks would go by with nothing being done, I called and emailed him constantly to get him there to finish which again took until May 2009 (8 months). Fast forward to Dec 2009. I had sold the house and moved back to TX. and I get an email from the new owner that the county code people had left a letter saying the garage had not had a framing or electrical inspection so the occupancy certificate had not been issued (I did not know at that time inspections were required). He was supposed to take care of all this. After numerous (at least a dozen) calls and emails he has yet to return a call or email. The only address is a PO Box which the BBB has sent letters to. He will not even sign for a registered letter from them.
At any rate I am currently on the hook to the tune of 15, 500.00 to make repairs for the new owner. It only cost me 22, 000.00 to build it in the first place..

All I can do at this point is go to court and get a judgement against this shyster and warn as many people as possible in as many places as possible.
