Unauthorized Charges
These people are scammers. You click to sign up for 3 day servivce at 5 or 6 bucks, and (somehow) you end up with a six month membership for $30, that RENEWS every six months! Amex won't back you on this one. When you agree to the lengthy pages of terms, somewhere in there is a statement that makes you a lifetime subscriber, you've been duped. Honest internet companies should be outraged that these people are getting away with this. It's bad for everyone.

Service a scam
I signed up for a free trial for $5.95 for this bogus roommate service. I was never able to log on as they said they could not recognize my e mail. I filed a complaint with my bank. They gave a me a number to contact them 646-862-2841. An automated message says you have to log on to contact them. I never got any service provided.
Beware of 3 day trials. Never give out your card unless you search complaints first. Had I done that, I would have found ton of them against roomster.net and roomster.com

Watch out
WATCH OUT! I signed up on this website to list a room I had for rent originally they told me it was free but then like most sites that say they're free you can't really do anything until you give them some of your money and because I was desperate to find somebody to share my two bedroom apartment I thought OK well $6.00 isn't going to hurt anything and this will allow me to post my AD on their site for about 4 days, so I went ahead and gave them my debit card info (which I will never ever do again on any website) and I paid the 5 dollars and some change checked back a couple times but a friend decided to move in so I stopped checking the site and thought everything was fine because once my 4 days was up I wouldn't be charged anything else. So then a month goes by and they charge me $29.95 which caused my account to be overdrawn 4 times because of some little purchases I made prior to them taking this money out of my account so I immediatly called my bank and filed a claim I tried calling them but when I cannled their toll free number I got a recording with a guy speaking asking me to visit their webiste when I waited to see if there would be more options it disconnected me and I thought to myself well thats a bad sign you can't even speak with anybody directly you have to E-Mail them. So then while I'm in the process of disputing this charge they again charge me $29.95 and at this point I'm faxing paperwork back and forth with my bank and E-Mailing their customer service "help desk" back and forth and all they can tell me was that it said in the fine print you have to cancel your membership or you'll be charged! WHAT? Are you kidding me what membership, it asked me to choose an option and I chose to pay 5 dollars and some change to post my AD for 4 days I didn't want a membership what gives them the right to take money from my account when I didn't authorize it. They're basically laughing at me now as they have almost 70 dollars from me and I hardly used their site, and their CS team is not helpful at all I found them to be very rude and unhelpful they basically told me oh well you should have read through everything but I never would have thought listing an AD for 4 days would cost me $70.00 but I am going to do whatever I have to to get my money back from them because what they did was sneaky and I'd advise everyone not to use their site at all. Any suggestions on what I can do to settle this matter would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Unauthorized Charges!!
I can't believe this!! I paid $3.00 or $4.00 for a few days after a $29.00 1 month access. I went into my account and unsubscribed over a month ago. I am now being hit for some bogas ass recurring monthly charge of the $29.00. Oh and on top of that? In the whole time I have been watching this - I've had 3 maybe 4 people who were actually possible candidates. Now, out of those I have only spoken to one.
Today, I work a $9.00 an hr. job in this messed up economy. I have child support who is going to start deducting $305.00 out of my check. The banks hit me with an overdraft of $34.00 for roomster. I am already short on this last months rent due to sick days. So I need this roomster crap like I need a hole in my head!!
I'm sure writing this is just spinning my wheels too. Not like anything is going to get done about it. Pretty great that we have such technology, that a company can take money from clear across the United States for a service that I need right here. Then keep hitting a zero balance account and jack me up for a bunch of debt. Now I get to complain using the very technology that they are using against me. I almost think that computers are a f'n waste of time and humanity sometimes!!! So anti-personal.

Unknown charges
This is the e-mail I sent them...
I signed up for a three day trial of your site for $5.95. Your site charged me $29.95, and you clearly had a strategy for billing automatically though I only signed up for a three day trial. You don't have a phone number for me to call to get in touch with anyone to discuss this, and its clear that you have already set up your site to answer for your "unscrupulous" but "authorized" charge in the list of "legal-ese" in your terms and conditions. I am disgusted by this experience. Not only has the site been fruitless to me, I should have known better than to sign up for your service when it was advertised to be free until I got the ONE e-mail in my "inbox" that you wouldn't let me read. I AM GOING TO REPORT YOU TO THE U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, the BETTER BUSINESS BURREAU, THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE and any other group that I can to ensure that you are found out and your practices are published. "You" (the person or persons that "run" your self-run site have poor morals and must not have any conscience. I hope that $30 was worth it. I'm going to make it my mission to relentlessly publicize your dishonesty. You disgust me.

Hidden subscription
I signed up for a 3 day subscription because you can't read any email responses unless you have some kind of subscription. It didn't do any good, because the persons who had emailed me about my apartment never responded, which makes me think they were not real (set up by the company?). When I reviewed my checking account online a month after my 3 day subscription, I found a charge for 29.99 from roomster for a month of service. Always read the fine print.
I feel that this company targets students/young adults who may not be as apt to read everything before signing. I don't think this type of business practice is ethical and it should be regulated.

They will cheat you out of your money!
Don't go to this service! Roomster.net cheats you out of your money!!! I signed up for a four day trial and after that was over, without a reminder, they signed me up for another 30 days which I did not need and did not want to pay for. Their policies are shady and very vague when you sign up. 29.99 down the drain, I have tried to get reimbursed but the assholes with the service apparently do not have actual live people as customer service representatives, they only reply by 'comment box'. This service is a downright f-ing scam.

Unauthorized charges!
I was looking for a roomate and decided to use there service for 1 month only. I did not authorize any kind of automatic deduction of $29.95 to come from my credit every month after that. They do not have any number nor do they respond to e-mails regarding disputes or anything for that manner. I accept the charge for december only! They have continued to charge me for Jan, Feb Mar 2008 I have closed that account as of now, but this is upsetting as well as frustrating. I am currently out on disability because of a surgery I needed I'm having a hard enough time paying rent This service is useless !I never received any kind of responses from this service! I found a roommate through Craigs list in January which is free. I never would have agreed for roomster to bill me for more than one month at a time! Their ripping people off and someone should investigate!
