Age discrimination
Ross is trying to fire another Loss Prevention Manager over 40 years old. They still have not learn there Lesson WITH AGE DISCRIMINATION. Case up north Alameda County #RG09465853. They hire new Managers under 40.

they don't care about what they do to all employees
Operations is always fighting Loss Prevention and Loss Prevention is fighting Operations. They need better Corp. Management, I say fire them all. The Corp. Office only cares about hiring Target management, no one else has a chance, I wonder how Target feels about all these lawsuits against Ross. It does not make them look good!

Corp. restructuring
Ross needs to restructure from the top. They are going in the wrong direction. Class Action suites and Law suites. Whats up with that.

Bathrooms
I went into this Ross with my wife and was told by her that when she went into the bathroom, not only was it filthy but only one of the three toilets were working. We went backtwo times after that and the toilets had not been fixed even though my wife complained to the store manager after the second visit. She was told by an employee that that when she complaind of non-working toilets to go to the Mcdonalds on her break and use theirs. That was enough for me. The next day I called the county Healt Department and lodged a complaint. Two days later, the toilets were fixed.
I will not return to this store to shop even though we like their prices. The manager was rude and when I could find him in the building instead of outside smoking cigarettes, he just blew me off. I think its time corporate took a look at how this store is being run and who is taking care of their dollars.
My Kudos to one Andrea Temple for her likable smile and expertise at the checkout. I would hope other employees at this store have the same zeal as she does dispite not being able to use her own bathroons...

Wrongful Termination
I was a Store Manager for Ross Dress for Less, Store 872 in Ormond Beach, Florida. I was wrongfully terminated Wednesday, October 7, 2009 after working for Ross for almost 6 years.

My District Manager, Annmarie Lombardi put me on a PIP July. For those of you not familiar with Ross, a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) is Ross's way of documentating someone out the door. They make the PIP so vague that they can make up anything against you to make you look like your not making any progress. Any progress that you do make is overlooked or called a fluke.

I was harassed so severly by District Manager - Annmarie Lombardi and Zone Director, Hank Rogalski that I was hospitalized on August 18, 2009 with shortness of breath and severe chest pains. My health was being affected by all the stress and berating that I was being subjected to. I was being berated in front of store customers and associates.

I received the Ross Presidents Club Award in 2006 and 2nd Place the following year. I had no problems with previous District Managers in the past until Annmarie Lombardi was hired in from the outside who worked for the now defunct Circuit City electronics chain. In fact, I covered my district for Zone 3 previous to her hiring.

My husband filed a formal complaint with Ross Store Corporate in Pleasanton California while I was in the hospital requesting a Ross Investigation for unethical management practices and Store Manager harassment. Unfortunately, a investigation was conducted by the very people who were responsible for this unethical conduct.

Ross use to be a great place to work, but now can be hazarduos to your health. I am reaching out to other Ross associates who may have been
similarly treated for the purpose of putting together a class action lawsuit to stop this unethical behavior. I feel that I was descriminated against due to my age and being near the top of my pay scale.

I was replaced by my Assistant Store Manager, who about 20 years younger than me and paid about $10, 000 to $15, 000 less than me.

For more information please e-mail me at [email protected].

We can't undo what has happened to us, but we can help make a difference for future Ross associates.

Rude, Snotty and no Customer Service
When I was down in Lompoc, Ca I bought some clothing at Ross's and after getting back home which is in Northern Ca. I noticed the zipper on the jeans were broke and one of the tops was in the wrong size. Also, one of the blouses I bought shredded all through out the material. It must of been very old material or been baking in the sun to end up the way it did after one washing on the delicate cycle! So I take all three items with the receipts & price tags to the San Leandro Store to return or exchanged them and what an awful experience I had! The sale girl looked at the first shirt and said, no she yelled at me saying NOd WAY THIS IS DIRTY, she kept repeating it and pointing to it and said no return for that one. I bought it the way it was, I had not worn it because it was to small but she wouldn't listen to me. When I took out the blouse that look shredded she again yells at me that she will not return it because I washed it. I told her that is what happened when I washed it and it was a defective to begin with but she said No, NO, NO she is not going to return it. It was embarrassing how she was acting towards me. So when I hand her the pants she immediately yells no way and started arguing with me and then just threw everything back at me saying she will not return anything and if I have a problem go she the manager. I am steaming at this point and go over to the asst. manager and started to explain what just happened when the other sale girl comes up behind me shouting that it was dirty and on and on. Everyone in the store was watching this loud mouth and it was really a very bad upsetting experience. But to make matters worse the asst. manager said she was not going to return anything either. Her reason was my receipts were to old but they are not even 30 days yet. Her name is Danielle and she thought it was funny that she was not going to give me a refund/exchange. Both these girls need to be trained on how to treat a customer, it is hard to believe that one is an asst. Manager the way she handled the situation. Before I left the store I requested her managers name and a number so I can contact him to get this resolved in an appropriate manner. His name is Mike Zuber and I hope that he knows what the meaning of customer service is and hopefully if he does he will train the other 2 very challenged and unskilled employees! I will never shop there again and with the way they seem to careless about their customers will show when they go bankrupt in this volatile economy!!! Karma Baby!

Extremely rude and careless associates and managers
I live in Bossier where there is a Ross store but I work in Shreveport where there is also a Ross store. One morning I decided to stop by the near by Ross in Bossier City to see what kind of product they had. It was pretty slim pickings, which is expected since it's much smaller and newer than the Shreveport store. However, I managed to find two pairs of shoes that I wanted to take home and try on with my clothes at home to see what outfits I could possibly put together. I knew I would be returning one of the shoes, because as much as I would have liked to keep them both, I am a college student who shouldn't be spending $50 on shoes. I'm sure someone out there can agree with me. Anyways so after that I headed into Shreveport to visit the bookstore where I planned on studying for a bit. Along the way I stopped at the Shreveport Ross to see if they had a better selection than the Bossier store. Well, they did, of course, so I ended up exchanging the two pairs of shoes that I had bought previously for a different pair of shoes, and a $20 jacket. After that I continued on to the book store where I studied, at most, 3 hours. As I headed home, I caught a case of buyers remorse and decided to swing by the Bossier store again to return the jacket I purchased at the Shreveport store. I was planned on keeping the shoes because they were only $17. When I walked in with a return I was immediately scorned by the cashiers with their dirty looks and snooty attitudes. I placed the Ross bag containing the jacket on the counter and apologized to them for returning as I am an assistant manager at my own clothing store and I know how it can hurt your daily numbers when merchandise is returned. Considering the jacket was only $20, however, I figured it wouldn't hurt them too bad. The associate jerked the jacket out of the bag without as much as a word and then tossed it down in disgust claiming she couldn't take it back because it didn't have a tag. In my horror I looked down to see that the jacket did in fact NOT have a tag. Well, let’s see. I bought it, tossed it in my backseat, went to the book store, then 3 hours later I cam here. The time on the receipt clearly stated that at least. I was confused. I explained to the cashier that it had a tag when I bought it, and that that was only 3 hours ago . I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the tag went, but I surely had nothing to do with its removal. She then proceeded to tell me that the jacket looked washed and worn as well. WHAT?!!?!? Did I mention it was a vintage pleather jacket? Now you tell me how I bought, worn, and washed a pleather jacket in 3 hours. Geez lady have some common since. After explaining my case and still getting nowhere I asked for the manager. I told her my story, and without even a reply, she turned to the associate and said, “Just return it. I’m gonna throw it away anyways." WOW! Great client service! Ok, whatever so they decided to return it. But wait. After handing the associate both receipts to show her that I had done the previous purchase that morning and then the exchange for the jacket, she was more than confused. Without a word she walked off taking both receipts with her. I stood there and waiting assuming she was consulting the manager again about the return. 15 minutes later the manager returned. She handed me the receipt and she couldn't return it and that I would have to go to the Shreveport store. Then she walked off. No apology or anything. I didn't even get the bag back! I had to carry the jacket out in my hands. So I headed back to the Shreveport store, where luckily the girl that rang me up that afternoon was there. She vouched for the fact that I just bought the jacket earlier that day and that it looked exactly the same as it did when I bought it. They returned the jacket for me, which I was glad, but, when I asked the manger if I could have the number to call for complaints, she gave me some guy's personal phone number who didn't answer, or call me back for that matter. I had to research online to even get the "complaints" number, which ended up being a dead end, as well, because it was out of service. I won't be back to Ross.

In response to dirty stores
I work part time in a Ross Store, that recently opened in February, (Tulsa Hills Ross in Tulsa Oklahoma). Thus far the store is still in excellent condition, although we work hard to keep it that way! By now, it could easily look like other Ross stores in the area. Sometimes the calibur of your clientele and the attitude of the customer will and does determine how well your store will be kept up. This particular Ross is in a fairly new shopping center, and we are constantly complimented on the condition of the store. I always, always make it a point to thank them, and I also throw in a comment about the customer helping us keep this store in good shape. Now before we get the store in shape before the opening of the next day, we find merchandise all over the place. It would surprise you, or maybe not how disrespectful the customers can be to the merchandise and the store. I have all too many times seen shoppers drop their children off in the toy department while they shop, and the kids tear into the packages, and leave things all over the place! My mother taught me to put things back where you got them. It is the most simple rule to follow, and would go a loooong way towards helping the employees of Ross keep the stores looking nice. After all Ross isnt in the business of having a huge payroll, because as of late, management has been requiring us to be out of the store at night within a certain time period, and this makes it hard to keep the store up, when you have constant turn over and customers trashing the stores. It's not up to Ross employees alone to keep the stores nice, it is also helpful for the consumer to just simply put things back on the shelf or racks where they belong. Hopefully this new store dosent fall victim to the trashy store reputation that Ross has, because when it does, I will quit! So as a consumer, if you encounter a new Ross Store and it is in good condition, truth be told, if you do your part to help keep the store nice, by returning merchandise to the rack or shelf where you got it, or simply hand it to a store employee, it will really help them keep the store in good shape. BTW, we have some of the nicest employees, and we get compliments on the politeness, and the customer service we give the consumer! : )
