Terrible experience
My name is Haaheo Tagaloa. I had purchased a Liz Claiborne luggage at Ross dress for less on 06/19/08, around 4:57pm at Kahului Maui. I was not aware of the "Lock" being missing until i got to my car. I went back to the Customer service desk and told the woman that i have a set of keys on my luggage but no "Lock"!!!
She then told me that it doesn't come with it because it's at discount but, I asked her why would there be a set of keys??? She then called her manager at the time who also told me that it's a discount item and it just arrived and they put it out the way it came! I then told the women that there was a few luggage there in the same brand that had the locks with it and it was also on discount too just one size up form what i purchased! They still said the same answer to me! The only reason I'm so VERY UPSET is:
1) NOT ONE OF THEM APOLOGIZED FOR THE ITEM!!!
2) NOT ONCE DID THEY OFFER SOMETHING ELSE!!!
3) POOR SERVICE!!!
4) THE MANAGER NEVER TOOK ACTION ABOUT THE SITUATION!!!
5) NO THANK, NO SORRY...!!!
6) NO SIGN SAYING WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT IS SOLD AS IS...!!!
IF I WAS THE MANAGER AT THAT TIME I WOULD HAVE CHECKED THE ITEMS BEFORE PUTTING IT OUT! PUT A SIGN ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT! OR OFFER OPTIONS... IF I WAS A SECRET SHOPPER I WOULD HAVE FILLED THEM FOR LACK OF SERVICE, POOR RESPONSE, BAD ATTITUDE, AND FALSE INFORMATION BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T TAKE THE TIME TO SEE THAT THERE WERE OTHER LUGGAGE ALSO SAME BRAND WITH A LOCK ON IT & KEY!!! BECAUSE OF THIS THEY HAVE LOST A CUSTOMER!!!

Mean Management
As I was strolling with my merchandise to the check-out at the Ross Dress for Less store on summer at Warring in Memphis, Tennessee, I passed a sweet, little girl with a ball who was bouncing the ball very closely to herself. She was being very quiet and was bouncing the ball gently within two inches of where she stood. She was causing no harm to anyone, and she certainly was not a danger to anyone.
Then, here comes this brute of a manager and snaps, "DON'T BOUNCE THAT BALL!" I couldn't believe it, because I had seen balls thrown in this very store with no comment being made. I quickly spoke out: 'Why not?' The store-woman snapped at me and yelled: "IT'S FOR SAFETY." I could not believe what she was saying since I had witnessed balls being thrown across the store by older boys. I replied: 'Then I hope you tell all the children who are throwing balls not to.' She replied, "Yes, I will." This entire conversation was spoken to me with her back to me.
I came home and immediately looked for the executive offices of the Ross Dress for Less department stores and could not find anything. I did find this complaint board.
I am tired of rude store managers who, it is apparent, are not being supervised. When did it become approriate to "snap" at children in public and then, "yell" at customers.
Where is the responsiblity board for Ross Dress for Less? Where is the place to go to talk to someone when one of their employees is rude, out-of-line, and mean? Or, do they just make sure they hire the mean ones, --there sure are a lot of complaints agains these store chains.
It will not be a problem for me not to go to that particular store again. But, I still would like to know that someone is listening to me.

hostile working enviroment
I was an employee at Ross from May 2007 to June 2008. I quit because of many reason, main one being the store manager. I have talked to HR 2 times, but nothing was resolved. There are too many details, but I would have to write a book! My main problem is I was there over a year and missed one day of work and was a dependable and good worker. Everyone liked me except the store manager for whatever reason I dont know. People there say jealousy, but I feel we are all to old for that. But that is how she was. Anyways, I was an area superviser and me and the other superviser asked if it was time for our vacation because we had been there for a year and the store manager said yes. So I put in my request for my vacation and took it, . When I got my check after my vacation, I noticed it was not on ther. The store manager called to see why and was told that in the handbook it says we have to be a "fulltime" employee for a year. I had only been full time for about 6 months. It was at this point I decided to quit, because our store manager dont even know what is going on. So I missed a weeks pay. I would have worked instead if I knew any different. So I put my 2 weeks in and when I left the room she told the other superviser that she knew I was going to do that and that she already had someone lined up. It is someone that had only been there for a little over a month but she was a friend. My question is, that since I had been there for a year and had vacation time built up, and I worked my 2 weeks out, am I entitled to what vacation time is built up? I got my last check today and it is not on my check. I dont know who to call. HR is only looking out for the company. So who do I talk to?

employees
This company is the most whack ass company I have ever worked for. They treat the employees like dogs and the management is coniving. These people are escaped inmates from Mexico who want to only pleasure their riches. Tons of illegals they want to use... This is a million dollar company who scams people even who work for them. You will kill yourself working here. They expect so much and no matter how much you give and give they dont give a rats ass. Changes need to be made this is disgraceful... no bags... last time I worked there there was no toilet paper in the employee bathroom...SICKOS.

Ridiculous customers!
I work at one of the Ross stores in Tucson, AZ. I have been reading the complaints expressed on this site and I must agree with most of it. Speaking as an employee, I have to say that there are many issues that go on behind the scenes of our store which makes it a little difficult to smile all the time. There are many so- called customers that steal, switch tags and return worn, disgusting, clothing... it is so irritating. For the lady that was disgusted by the dirty boxers... here's the thing, Ross has a just say yes policy now that we all have to follow... so no matter what that customer wants to return, we have to take it back and the managers will put it on the floor... I'm grossed out when I touch this stuff to return it. I know how you feel, but we have no choice and the corporate office doesn't tell us anything about tactics and reasons. To go into the man that talks about how long the lines are and the plumbing... Ross or any corporate store shutting down for bathroom troubles is not going to happen... also the reason why the lines are so long is because so-called customers come into the store and ruin it... they throw stuff all over the floor, take things out of the package and leave it anywhere and people are just filthy, we don't have enough people to run the registers and clean up after grown men and women... maybe if people weren't dirty and nasty and inconsiderate of Ross employees, you'd be able to get out of the store faster. People like this only look at situations from there own point of view, not anyone else's. Know one has a clue what Ross employees have to deal with on a daily basis, I know someone might just quit, but I'm a college student and they work with my school schedule. The main problem with the stores that I have noticed is the managers and the choices they make... so if anyone has a major complaint with Ross, call the corporate office and express your grievances because nothing will change if they know... I also hate this damn F.A.S.T program, it is the complete opposite of fast. It's ridiculous that they force us to bag and scan there way... Get it together.

they stole my money
Ross has always had a bad reputation. However, I shop there all the time because of bargains. I shop there very often, once in a week at least because to find something really nice among junk clothes you have to do it. I buy a lot for some people from abroad. What happened to me today is unbelievable RUDE. Below is the story: a month ago I bought two identical dresses for $12.99 each. The person, I bought for, didn't like it, so I came to return them. At customer desk, I figured out that one of the dresses had a wrong ticket (from men's department). Manager of the store named Valery Martinson shocked me on front of many people by telling "I know you shop often, but we always have trouble with your returning". First of all, thats not true. I don't return used clothes and don't cheat with tickets. It is not just RUDE, it is unbelievable unexceptional. She made me feel like I am a sort of shoplifter. Can you imagine? She accused ME for their mistakes. THEY sold me that dress with a wrong ticket!!! I recommeded to do a better job and do not let people to feel SO uncomfortable, and of cource she refused Ross' mistake. When I told her that she should apologize, she even didn't react. As a result, she refused to return me $12.99 for the dress with a wrong ticket and gave me only a $8 for it. I lost some money because of THEIR mistake, but it is not big money to worry about. She made me feel like a shoplifter, like a dishonest person. It is not right for anybody, and especially for a loyal customer like me, who spend way too much money at that store. I would like the manager who is responsible for hiring people, will solve this matter

Ross Management
I worked at the Ross store up in the Springs and I was one of the openers for this new store in pueblo. For once ROSS did it RIGHT! It was hard but the Manager they hired she kicked ass and got things done, people were trained right, they knew not to go home until the store was clean, they were making all their numbers and the store was super. Made all their sales with a smile on their face. I left that store to work in a store in Denver that treated customers like trash and you had to look in trash to find anything you wanted.
Point is the store will be good or bad only depends on what mamagement allows. If they get out of their office and walk the floor you will have a good store. I promise you there is not that much paperwork to keep you in the office.

Rude assisstant manager (BETTY)
I was returning a pair of shorts that did not fir my son and I was basically called a thief by BETTY the assisstant manger! The item was not on the receipt and I said OK. She told me maybe I didn't pay for the item and they should charge me for it. WHAT!!! I don't think so. I said it might be on another receipt somewhere and I grabbed the wrong receipt or maybe somebody did their job wrong and didn't charge me. Her reply WHATEVER! If the assisstant manager is rude to customers she wouldn't expect any less from her other employees. I won't shop this store anymore. I will drive the extra miles to go to a different store or I will pay the extra at Dillards and get great customer service. There are to many other stores out there to shop at besides ross. I will never return to this particular location.

T errible Service
My name is John and i recently went to the Ross in Monaca PA. And i had horrible time. The floors were a mess. There were a number of clothing items that were out of place. There are cloths all over the place. I happen to go there when the plumbing was out and i had to go next door to use the bathroom. But the worst part is, there was "stuff" comming out of the sewer and it smell horrible. They should of shutdown the store. I went to an employee and the employee did not know when the plumbing would become available again. When purchasing, the lines were long and i waited about 15 minutes just to get ring up. There was other employees doing markdowns. I ask an employee why they don't call up more people to ring and the response was horrible. They said it was the people ringing were the only ones that have been train and there were no other people to ring. It was a really bad expierence. My new shirt i bought smelled horrible. i washed it and it was still smelling.. errrrrr
ROSS DRESS FOR LESS IS A TERRIBLE STORE.
GO NEXT DOOR TO MARSHALLS. IT'S NOT HAS CHEAP. BUT THE EXPERIENCE IS BETTER.
