Customers should know this
Ross policies are tooooo lenient on the customers and too harsh on employees. I understand that because I work there, I'm being paid to provide a service to people, but COME ON!!! Don't treat me like a goddamn waitress, because you have to leave a tip for them and I don't see a tip jar at my register for "folding your clothes nicely (JUST LIKE SOME OF YOU REQUEST) before putting it in the bag." Seriously, I have no idea why you ask that in the first place, are you going to put it in your drawer when you get home? I hope you're going to wash it, sooo filthy! Another this would be, your bitch fits when you don't get your way. I understand that you are supposedly right, even though majority of you are just talking asses, but COME ON!!! If you can't return and item, because it's obvious your put your filth on it, don't act like a child, it's bad enough we have to pick up after you when the store is closed. I can't believe you people expect to be treated with the best customer service, what makes you think you deserve it?? Go to freaking macys and pay double, if you want to be treated like the king/queen of lazy land, and I don't get why you dont ruin their store when they charge waaayyy too much. We Ross employees work hard because of you goddamn animals, just because we don't smile at you, kiss your asses, doesn't me we provide services..

We RING UP YOUR ITEMS, WE BAG YOUR ITEMS, PICK UP AFTER GROWN ADULTS, ASSIST YOU WHEN YOU NEED HELP CARRYING YOUR BAGS TO YOUR CAR (because you're an idiot when you know the carts dont go outside, yet you still get more that you can handle), ASSIST YOU AT THE FITTING ROOM, BREAK OUT BACKS BECAUSE YOU LEAVE THE STORE A MESS WHEN IT HITS CLOSING TIME, LISTEN TO YOUR AWFUL REQUESTS, ECT.

BUT THAT ISN'T ENOUGH FOR YOU!!! YOU STILL NEED YOUR ASSES KISSED.

I say, "I'd rather kick a ross customer's ass, than kiss it. They deserve it."

Has shameful return policy
I attempted to return several items that were Christmas Gifts or bought in the last few months. Ross refused to accept several items and would only give like 20 cents on the dollar for other items. However, consumers can still find like and identical items on the store's shelves today. If Ross believes there recent merchandise is so bad, why are they even selling it in the first place.

Hired To Be A Slave.
I'm not sure if any of you still access this section of the complaints board, but I currently work at Ross. I'm not at all amused at how this company works. I've read multiple complaints on this particular area of this website, and I'm amazed at how much crap I can relate to. It starts with the managers that subliminally degrade us and expect us to succumb to their devious ways. I'm getting sick of it ALL! I've been there since May 2010 and things haven't changed at all. When will the madness end? I've even considered contacting the district manager in my area, but after reading some of these stories, I'm a bit worried that my cry for help won't do anything. We're supposed to be honored not belittled and tortured. Where's the love? What do I do besides quit? If you can help or want to share experiences, e-mail me at [email protected]

Rude Employee
The women who watches the fitting room at 8pm was being awfully obnoxious and rude. Makes me think "how in the world did she get this job?". If this is the person you want to represent your company, then you must have pretty low standards. Here is what happened: So, I was walking towards the fitting room carrying a pair of jeans when the women who worked at the fitting room (whose name I did not get) stopped me and asked for a ticket. I walked passed and overlooked the sign that said I needed a ticket number. So then, she said "is the sign not big enough for you? can you even read?" in an awfully obnoxious manner. I was quite angry when she said that but I kept my cool and I apologized for overlooking the sign, but she wouldn't forgive me or accommodate me with a ticket. I was like forget about it, if she is going to treat me like a second class citizen I am going to take my business elsewhere. So, I left without purchasing anything. I will never shop at this place ever again.

Rude and very unproffessional
I went into Ross today to look for some shoes. I found a pair I liked very much, but they ran a size too small. I went to the front desk and waited in line. The cashier was backed up and called for another assoicate to come and help her, and since I was next to be serviced I went to the next register with my question. I asked the cashier if there was a way to call another store to see if they had a bigger size of the shoe I wanted. She said "NO, we do not do that." I then asked her for a number to another Ross so I could call myself, and she said "No, we do not do that." I said your kidding me and she just stared at me. I put the shoe's down on the register and before I could ask another question the women yelled out "Next!" As an assistant manager at a different retail store I know that our store policy is that we contact nearby stores in order to determine if they carry the item a customer is requesting, and that has also been the policy with several other retail positions I have been in. I found her attitude and actions to be extremely unprofessional and inappropriate for a retail market which strives on customer satisfaction in order to retain their current clientelle. Unfortunately due to the way I was treated I was too frustrated to think to get the name of the cashier I spoke with, although I know that they were the backup cashier around 7:00-7:30 this evening (9/12/2010).

Disabilty Discrimination
I worked at Ross Dress For Less in Memphis, TN on Summer Avenue for about 2 months as a stock room associate.I had been working there for I say about 2 days and my manager Angelique Montgomery was aware of my disabilty before she hired me, anyways she starts saying I have to speed things up.Okay I am like I am moving as fast I as can.So almost everyday she nagged at me saying I was not being productice I have eto move faster. One time she called me to the side and talked to me saying that if I can move fast enough then I am fired.I heard that almost everyday. Then she finally called 3 people to the back for a metting (thenewhires). And she stated to me that my hands does not have anything to do with my legs functioning to do my work.I sat there appaled like I know she did not just say that.To top that off she has a nasty attitude and cant even com municate with customers and here employees in the right manner. So I have choose to file a Discrimination Law Suite against her.

Not a profssional place
Hi,

I am a employee at your company. I have had some problems with your assistant manager, at 5932 Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs GA. I have been working in the retail business for 15yrs. And I have never been so degraded and disrespected in my life. She is not professional at all. I complained to my head manager, about the problem, and he said that he will handle the problem. But he didn't. So, I am writing this letter of complaint. I love working in the retail business. I am also a team player. I take pride in my work, and I love helping people to the best of my knowleadge. I am muti-task, I can do more than one thing at a time. I spoke to my manager, and told him that I love what I do. But I am feeling very unconfortable working here now. And he replied that he knows, that I am a good worker and he don't want to lose me. I told him that, is assistant manager said to me, in front of my co-workers what I make a hour. And that I better be lucky if she gives me any hours. I have never been degraded in all mylife, working in the retail business that I love so much. She is not professional for that at all. She has really cut my hours. I get paid avery two weeks. She only gives me 4hours a week, I can not live off of that. She really has something against me. And I have never disrespected her in any kind of way. I have respect, for those that don't have respect for me. Because I am a professional person. I don't want to get fired from my job, because I have never been fired from a job in mylife. But, she makes me feel very unconfortable when I come to work. I feel that a person should feel confortable and happy with the job that they work in. I must also say that, that I really get a headache and sick to my stomach. And that only happens when she is working. I love my supervisor and manager. I really love working their, but she really makes me feel unconfortable. They have been hiring new employees, which is okay with me. But she gives them more hours than me, and that's not right at all. Because I am a good worker, and I take alot of pride in my job and what I do. So please If their is someone that can help me get a postion in one of your other ross stores. I received a call from your store in the Dunwoody area, the same time that I received a call from your sandy springs store in atlanta ga. And I told them that I already had a interview, at the sandy springs store on roswell rd. Now I am wishing that, I would have went to that store.

rude cashier
I had the misfortune of visiting your Smyrna location in GA and meeting your rude cashier Iris this morning. There was one person in front of us that was finishing payment but the cashier Iris told my wife and I "ya'll need to move over there" pointing to the waiting line which was set up in case there are long lines. Iris had the nastiest look on her face I have ever seen when she made this statement. The tone with which she said this was as if my wife and I were her dogs. When she finished ringing up the customer in front of us only a few seconds later, she waived us over to her register. Again, this is a very rude way to communicate with customers. When I asked her why she is so rude, she responded "I wasn't being rude at all" at which point your "loss prevention" guy stepped behind the counter with the purpose to intimidate us into being quiet. This is all very disturbing behavior...

My wife shops at your Hiram, GA location regularly where they have always been courteous but after this incident I can assure you she will never step another foot into any of your locations. You really should ensure you hire more appreciative and courteous employees at your Smyrna location. It's disgusting the way we were treated...
