diseased puppies, improper breeding
We purchased an 8 wk old female brindle bullmastiff puppy from Nicole (Nikki) Wolf in Sapulpa, Ok at the Royal Brindle Bullmastiffs in July 2009. We advised we were looking for breeding quality puppy. We were told the puppy was vet checked and given a health guarantee. I took the pup to our vet for second health check within 72 hrs. After we had the pup 3 months she developed a lesion on her nose, I thouht our other puppy had bitten her while playing, I treated it but within 2 days it was worse so I took her to the vet where I was informed she had Demodetic Mange, a hereditary mange and was told she should be sterilized immediately once the mange cleared. I contacted the breeder to advise her of the diagnosis and request refund as she was purchased for breeding and we had made that clear at time of purchase. Niki advised she was aware of the diagnosis as she was treating 3 of the littermates at the time of purchase but did not disclose this to us. Niki advised that the health guarantee was void because I did not email her that we had completed the vet check of the pup within 72 hrs of purchased. I advised that I had documentation of the visit. The guarantee specifically denied demodex/demodetic mange and once the breeder refused to refund or assume responsibility for not disclosing the illness AND selling the pets with full registration papers for breeding on animals that were prediposed to hereditary mange. I have spoken to 4 vets including the breeder's vet who signed the health certificate given to us at time of purchase, the breeders vet advised she had treated the other pups and had fully discussed and informed the breeder that the pups and the parents should be sterlized. I contacted AKC and spoke to them about the situation and discovered that the mother of the pups was bred at 10 months of age. We were told the mother of the pup was nearly 2 yrs old, we questioned the young age since bullmastiffs do not mature till 2 yrs old and the breeder recanted and stated the mother was just at 2 yrs old when bred. Niki knew whe had another puppy here already and that we were exposing her to the mange but never notified us although she had our home and cell numbers and 2 email addresses. Royal brindle continues to advertise the parents of our pup on their website (its the only 2 bullmastiffs they own) and are offering puppies and breeding services. We paid $1200 for a diseased pup and have learned that breeder was using med to prevent lesions from breaking out until the pups were sold, is breeding immature dogs for profit and is not disclosing health conditions, she has no concern for the health of the animals and is breeding improperly to make a buck. I contacted breeder repeatedly and she has taken no responsibility or shown ANY remorse and appears she will continue to sell diseased pups.
