We received a call from a promotional company in Florida. We were told if we would attend a 90 minute presentation we would be given a cruise for two, two airline tickets and $500.00 of groceries vouchers and we did not have to buy anything. On 4/18/2009, my husband and I went to the presentation, the salesman said for only $9500.00 we would receive all kinds of elaborate travel opportunies. We declined the sales pitch and then the coercion started. We were taken into a small room and told that if we would sign the contract that day they would give us the travel package for $4900.00. We told them we were both disabled and my husband could only walk a few feet with a walker and then he had to use a wheel chair or scooter if it was very far. I am also disabled with fibromyalgia and lupus. We are both senior citizens and have to see a pain specialist once a month. They kept us there three hours and by then we both were in a lot of pain. Not one time did they tell us that the contract did not have a 72 hour cancellation clause. We signed the contract so we could get out. As soon as we got home we called the office and ask to speak to one of the sales managers. We were told they were in meetings and could not be disturbed so we left word that we were cancelling the contract. We called again the next day and no one answered. We left the same message, "that we did not want the package and could not use it, so we were cancelling it". We called again on Monday and reached a Mr. Velazquez. My husband told him we had called our credit card and cancelled it and that we did not want the travel package. Mr. Velazquez told us we could have the package for only $2900.00 if we would keep it. We declined the offer and he said he would see what he could do for us. We thought the matter was settled and then the nasty letters started. This is one of the worse scams I have ever seen or heard. We just want to be left alone by the scam artists.
