This is to inform you that I have had unsatisfactory and possibly actionable dealings with a company called The Director Chair Co., a division of Royko Inc., 94 10th Street, Hanover, Ontario, N4N 1N2. Although this organization is based in Ontario, it has a presence on Google, and evidently deals with New York and many other states.
In mid-April of this year I ordered chairs with specially printed canvas backs from Royko on their website. The wooden chairs themselves arrived on April 29. The personalized canvas additions were supposed to arrive soon afterward. Inquiring phone calls were never answered. My e mail inquiries, however, did receive a reply from a Ryan Currie, evidently an executive at Royko. His e mail promised delivery within a week or so. When nothing showed up after ten days, I wrote another e mail inquiry. I was informed that the canvases were in the mail and should arrive shortly. Another week went by. Then two weeks.
Upon inquiry I was reassured that the canvases were “in the Canada post” and should arrive any day. It is now June 8, 2006. It seems obvious that Royko Inc., if it is in business at all, is in the practice of deception rather than furniture. It is unclear whether I have legal recourse in this; certainly I will stop payment on my Visa credit card. But at the very least others should be forewarned so that they can avoid dealing with what seems an unscrupulous company.
