Overcharge and bad customer service
I wish I had found this website before calling these people. I accessed their website on August 20, 2010 and requested service to have locks changed. The time was scheduled for 2:00 pm. The locksmith called me at 2:15 to say he was still on the other job and would be there when he could. It was after 3:00 when he arrived. He changed 2 deadbolts and 3 locks and rekeyed all the locks. The bill was $894. The should have been my clue but I was so shocked by it, and late for a meeting that I paid it. After a week I thought about it and realized something was wrong. The 3 locks should have been charged as $255 but he doubled that to $510. The charge for labor and installation was written as $95 but when adding the bill, it was $124. In all I was overcharged by $284.
I called the company and spoke to a woman who advised me to fax over a copy of the bill and it would be looked at. I did so but did not hear anything. I called again on Sept. 2 to find out the status and spoke with Kayla. She found the fax and we went over the details of the bill. She agreed that I was due the $284 but that it had to be approved by Juan, the manager, and she would forward it to the bookkeeper and him. Time passed and no check so I called again on Sept. 15 and spoke to Kayla. She said Juan was out that day and would be in the next day. That she had done her part and would call me after she spoke to him.
There is no address on the website, no way to track them back. I'm very upset and disappointed that a company would work this way. Please beware of this company. If you do use them, get a written estimate up front and watch the charges carefully.

Overcharge and false quotes
This is the worst service EVER!!!
I locked my keys in the trunk of my vehical. I called GM to get a replacement key and they said it was $75 to replace a key for my make and model. I couldn't get a key from GM because I could not find the title for my car(moved recently and things are mixed up). So I decided to call Run Local Locksmith. I explained to the Run Local locksmith Customer Service Rep that I locked my keys in the trunk of my vehical. She asked the make and model of my car. I asked her the price and she said $29 minimal service Fee PLUS 35-65 charge depending on how exentsive the work is to unlock it($95 max). The rep had the tech call me and the tech said "with your make and model we cant pick the lock for your trunk we will have to drill". I refused and he cancelled the call.
I called them back again and asked them how much would it cost for them to replace my key instead. They said $120-150 plus $29 minimal service charge(so around $180). The tech came out and said he can get my trunk open without making a key. He removed the driver side plastic from my door to get to my trunk switch. HE THEN ASKED ME FOR AN ELECTRICAL CABLE. I HAD ONE IN MY HOUSE AND GAVE IT TO HIM. he hooked it up to my battery and then to my trunk switch and got it to open. he then charged me $180 to open my trunk with a cable I provided to him. without me providing the cable he wouldnt been able to perform the service. Also, charging me 180 for an unlock is outragious considering that is what they quoted me for a replacement key. I refused to sign my signature and was being harrased by him. he said he wouldnt leave unless i signed. he told me to dispute it with the managers. I called the manager juan who is WORTHLESS!!! I asked juan to reverse the charges and charge me for an unlock which is quoted to be around $65-$95). He refused. I put a dispute in with my bank. I am also putting a dispute in with the BBB. This business has to be STOPPED and has to pay for its wrongful business practices.

Worst Experience EVER
No other time in my life have I been YELLED AT by someone that I'm paying to perform a service. I called for the $29 special when I was locked out of my house. He showed up, took one look at the door and said it would cost $200. I politely told him I couldn't afford it and that I would pay the $29 for him to drive out.
Soon afterwards he began yelling at me, both in English and a foreign language, trying to scare me into paying $200. He then put his manager on the phone and she proceeded to yell at me for about 5 minutes. While he was running my credit card he told me how "stupid" I was for not paying the $200 (for 5 minutes of work) and how I "wasted" his time. I think $29 for driving 1 mile is a pretty good use of his time, considering he hopefully won't be in business much longer. Please, STAY AWAY!!

Worst Locksmith Experience
Run Local locksmith service is the worst service you can use. Their advertisement claims $29 service, but what they don't tell you is you'll be paying for "labor" also...I called to have them unlock my car, and 30 minutes later I proceeded to repeat directions over and over and over. This guy had a GPS and still kept me on the phone 10 minutes because he "wasn't from the area" and had no idea where I was. Then when he got there, he told me it'd be $29 for service and $80 for labor...are you freakin kidding me?! What a joke. They need to be put out of business for false advertising and completely overpriced services (not to mention their workers can't even use a GPS). I'm appalled.

Poor customer service
OMG!!! Where do I start... I called this company and 8:15pm on 6/13/2010 because of their that add stated that there was a 15 minute wait well low and behold that 15 minute wait turned into a nightmare... After waiting the first 45 minutes I called back to see how long before the locksmith would come out to my home, I spoke with Rachel and asked how long would it be because I was locked outside with my 4 year old child and that it had gotten dark, well at that time Rachel told me that she would call the locksmith and have him to call me in a few minutes... Well after waithing additional 30 minutes i called back to speak with Christie or Christine and was told the same thing... Well continuing to be patient I called back about 30 minutes later and asked to speak to a supervisior and spoke with Jazmine who said the she was the supervisior and was told that the locksmith was on the way i explained my situation and that i was outside with my child and I just needed to know if or when he was coming because if he wasn't coming I needed to call another company. Jazmine put me on hold for almost a hour and called the owner, she said that the owner had spoken to the locksmith and that he was on the way once again I asked how long and of course she (jazmine) said that he would call in a few minutes which never happened, by this time it was almost 3 hours from my frist call. Eventually I just hung up and used other resources to get into my houe... This company is a joke and very unprofessional. This company should be put out of business the owner and the employees are less then human for anyone to leave people stranded outside with their child for 3 hours in the dark are evil and I hope that one day everyone that works for this company have to endure what me and my child went through. And then maybe they want be so quick to put and leave you on hold or keep telling you lies that the locksmith is on the way when they know he is not... I hope everyone that was involved in this matter gets what is coming to them...

incompitance
I just installed a storm door at our condo. The locking mechanism required that two 7/16 inch and two 3/4 inch holes be drilled on the door to install locking assembly. Since this was a $350 dollar door and I did not have the step drill bit ($40 new) to properly do this job I decided to call a locksmith. This was Sunday April 11, 2010. They wanted to come right away but I scheduled the install for Tuesday April 13, 2010.
In their advertising, which I found on the internet, they claimed to come out for a $29 service call. I well understood in advance that this fee was to just come out. I talked to the phone person and explained what I needed done. I was specific about needeing a storm door lock installed and the size holes that needed to be drilled.
Tuesday April 13th comes, and their locksmith calls to get directions. I asked immediatley why his area code is (612)? He says he's from Minnesota. We hang up and after a second call to get directions he arrives. Being in a condo our place is hard to find.
I begin to explain what I needed done and realized that he did not speak english well. I showed him how the drilling template is taped to the door to drill holes and he doesn't seem to understand me. He then takes the locking mechanism and tries to insert it in the door and cannot figure out how it goes. I show him. At this point I am thinking to myself this guy is not a locksmith. So I decide that I will help him do the job after all the only thing I really need is the holes drilled.
I then begin to explain the size holes I need drilled. He produces a 1 inch hole saw(for wood dooors) with no guiding drill bit and a half inch drill bit. This would make both holes oversized and not good for long term use of door. The handle after time would wobble. I explain that I called them to drill these specific sized holes for the lock.
He asks to go make a phone call and returns too tell me that is the best he can do.
At this point I tell him I do not want or need his services. It is very obvious to me he is not a licensed locksmith or equiped to do any type of quality work.
He then asks for the $29. I felt I did not have to pay this fee. So I tell him I am going to call the office. I call them immediately and the locksmith(?) waits. After a 20 minute conversation with the phone person and then her supervisor I am informed that if I don't pay the locksmith(?) the $29 fee, they will file a police report for theft of services. I explain to the supervisor that I was very specific about the job I needed done and even she asked why the locksmith(?) just couldn't go to the hardware store to buy the drill bit. I had no answer for her. I then very begrudgingly paid the $29 fee and got a reciept. As the locksmith(?) writes the reciept he claims that no locksmith will be able to do what I want, it is impossible.
After an internet search for complaints I began to relize I got off very cheap. There are multiple complaints for overcharges, deciet, and intimidating business practices. I want to file this with BBB so a log or continuos log can be obtained.
I did go to the hardware store and buy the step drill bit to do the job it took 1 hour to install at a cost of $40. Yes I did get off cheap.

Rip-off, Rude, Deception
My son had locked his car keys in his trunk, which were the only keys for the car as the second set was lost. He was at a sports gated complex when this happened. They explained that the $29 is for showing up and gave an estimate of $45 for the rest of the work. The only credit card he had was AMEX and they don't take that. He finally scraped together $100 by borrowing from his friends. They showed up about 1--1/2 hours after the "locksmith" was dispatched. It was close to closing time when the gates would be locked. The locksmith demanded $165 so we had no choice, but to allow them to charge our credit card for the additional. He wouldn't charge the entire amount and demanded taking the cash first. He open the drivers side door using inflatable balloons which tripped the alarm, which in turn put the car in a shutdown mode. Using the trunk button, just set off the alarm. The "Locksmith" tired to break into the trunk thru the backseat armrest, then gave up. He they pronounced that he had opened the car for my son, said he had other calls and abandoned my son. I plan to file complaint with the states attorney's office and other government agencies.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Do not use Run Local! They run a terrible business and clearly have no business ethics. I set up an appointment a week in advance that was never actually put through. I was told what information I needed to fax in but never a deadline before the appointment date by which to send it. Due to our location, we had to find someone we knew in Forida to be at the location for the locksmith as we are in Ohio. We had friends drive an hour to the prooperty only to find no one there! When I called the reps at Run Local they explained that the fax I sent wasn't recieved in time even though my fax report said it had gone through, apparently theirs is a little slow. So they never put the call in! And they never called me to tell me the appointment was not set up or that they didn't receive my information! I kindly asked the service be removed and they strongly denied. What should have been a simple set up turned into a huge mess due to the ineptness of the Run Local staff and their porr practices. My advice? USE ANYONE ELSE!

no show
Run Local Locksmith gave me the WORST customer service experience in my life. They do NOT keep their word and they charge MUCH MUCH MORE than the low fee they deceptively advertise. Workers are rude, insulting to the point of being abusive.
After replacing my front door lock and handle, and paying $271 the technician said he could not rekey the lock that night because he was too busy, but that he would come back free of charge. After countless calls and FOUR NO SHOWS after an appointment was made, they still have not rekeyed the lock and they INSIST I pay for the rekeying even thought their website says rekeying is free with service.

deceptive marketing practices, rude, unproffessional behavior from employees at all levels
This company advertises locksmith services for "Only $29" and service in 15 minutes. The technician took an hour to arrive and then informed my husband that $29 was the service charge and that "labor" would be additional. He insisted that the $29 was owed him just for showing up, regardless of whether or not he performed any services. $128 and 2 minutes later the locksmith smugly informed my stupified husband that he could have purchased the tool he'd used for $10 dollars himself and opened his own car!
I have attempted several times, unsuccessfully to communicate directly with the elusive "Juan" who is apparently a supervisor at the lockmith company. He is perpetually "out at the moment" or "busy" and the dispatchers who answer the phonelines are minimally helpful at best. There is no address listed anywhere so I cannot even file a complaint with the BBB and obviously they are not a member. Honestly, $30 is very low and I wouldn't be opposed to paying more for a locksmith. However, I value honesty and professionalism highly and this company falls dismally short in that regard.
