Rural Metro Ambulance is the company that recently took over for Care ambulance in Dekalb county. Dekalb county is utilizing Rural Metro for all of his ambulance services and Dekalb still handles the fire calls. There business practices have really gone down hill causing employees to quit and be disgruntled...who wants angry employees working on their loved ones?

First, Rural metro suddenly switched to 24 hours shifts with little notice. In fact employees were notified by other employees and were never officially told by the company. Dekalb county is a very busy county and the fire fighters that work on the fire engines get breaks sometime..you don't get breaks working on the ambulance.

Second, the next great surprise is a pay cut with NO notice. Many employees checked their bank accounts on Christmas Eve only to find that they're checks were $70.00 less dollars PER SHIFT. Lucky for Rual Metro it was a holiday so no one in human resources could be reached for 4 days. The following Monday the 27th, a text message was sent out saying the pay for Paramedics will be raised to $17.50. The original pay was $19.50, it was lowered to $14.28 and then will go back up to $17.50. Also they stated they would not go back and pay the difference in the Christmas Eve check. There was absolutely no notification that the pay rate would be lowered..so employees were working thinking they were earning their full wage. So 2 weeks go by to todays paycheck (Thursday Jan 7th)...and guess what? The pay rate was not fixed and my husband was still paid $14.28 per hour. Another text message was sent out saying there was an error and the missing pay will show up on the next check. So they had 2 weeks to fix the pay rate error and didn't and now the employees have to wait 2 more weeks? If it is Rural Metros error..they should get the money to their employees as soon as possible. Many employees in Emergency medical services work extra jobs because we need the extra money and I am just shocked at how unethical Rural Metro Ambulance is. They need to be held accountable for their bad business practices and employee treatment.
