I purchased the unit on 9/19/09. The first problem became evident at start up. The compressor relay was installed upside down causing the compressor to run all the time, even without a thermostat. Second problem all Freon leaked out on two oscassions. The unit was so costly to operate that the first three months power bill were more than my previous 12 months combined.
The unit was so bad Ruud replaced the unit with another one, Jan 15 2010, just as bad. It would not heat the house in the winter and is not cooling in the summer. It has had the Freon replaced three times and an expansion valve replaced. The last three weeks I have had to put up with temps in the house of 80-86 degrees all while the unit runs about 15 hours straight. Ruud has been unable to repair the unit and they say they are doing all the can do. Which amount to nothing.
Please do not buy a Ruud unit.
