SAI Reviews

Shoddy Business Practice
My parents, who are both in their late 80's, were talked into buying a home monitoring system from APX Alarms. They have never turned it on because they are afraid the motion detectors will set it off and scare them to death. Two years into a three contract, APX sold their contract to CastleRock who was then acquired by SAI. SAI turned them over to collections for not renewing their credit card. When I asked SAI to remove the equipment and release them from their contract, because they clearly didn't understand what they were signing, SAI refused and threatened legal action. They have never monitored the system once in two years, since it has never been turned on, and they have never made any attempt to contact my parents or myself as their designated next of kin to find out if they had any problems. They are unscrupulous and fraudalent and this is elder abuse.

Thrown into default
I signed up for a home security system with FirstLine. They took my credit card info and started charging monthly on a 36 month agreement. After 4 months, the company disappeared. They stopped billing me and I could not contact them over the internet or phone. I found out several months later that my contract was picked up by Security associates (SAI). They told me I was 6 months behind but would accept a 3 month payment and waive the other 3 months if I provided a credit card to bill from. I did this and they took the first payment. They failed to take any more payments on a monthly basis. I gave up after the first call (which involved being on hold for a half hour).
Recently I was contacted through the mail by Anderson, Crenshaw & Associates. They claim to represent SAI and said my account was in default. The only way I could clear this up was to give them $1871. They threatend to put a lein on my house, post negative credit info, and garnish my wages. I'm not a lawyer but I don't see how this can even be legal!
Stay away from any fly-by-night security system providers. I believe I am a victim of a scam by these companies to purchase contracts and put customers in default so they can collect ridiculous penalty fees.
