I have compliant to the Public relation for the care I received while I was at your hospital Saint Luke Hospital in Columbus NC. I have a letter from them that does not answer my complaints. Some of my patients rights were denied. When I was admitted into the hospital was in May of 2010. I was admitted from the emergency room by Dr.Kelly I was told I was going in for observation. I do have a Family Physician but not in NC. He is in South Carolina he has been my family Physician for over 30 years. I have ask that all my records from my stay be sent to my family doctor as of today he has not receive them.. The hospital has his name and address . . I find out from a debit collector that I have a bill in collection from Dr. Rosenberg that is $200 for services he did while I was inpatient which I do not recall. I remember that he did come by and look at my left leg because I was having a hip problem. But their was no consultation with me but I spoke to his office and they said their was. They said he had a long discussion with Dr. Kelly or Dr.Dashiell consultation .Dr Rosenberg note said . I was not informed or part of that consultation which I should have been. My rights as a patient to know all parts of my care were denied. I was not informed of this till I get the collection notice which I have told them their was no consultation with me..
I was constantly throwing up which was dark in color. That was reported to the nurses as I understand and the doctor which was not taken care of I was not asked anything about it. I was told it was coffee or Pepsi. How a register nurse can not recognize blood from a bleeding ulcer is beyond me.. Their was one day that I threw up when the nursing assistant was there to up me with a bath and change my bed.. I threw up several times in a tub not one of those pans she was pouring it out as fast as she could. I did not have it one time she had not finished cleaning out the pan before I threw up again this time it got all over me and a towel I was holding and the things I had on my legs for circulation. When I was discharged I went home and I was still throwing up very badly I went to my family doctor. Later that evening I had to go to emergency room at home they did a few test and about 6 hrs I went home. The next day I had to go again be cause of the throwing up dark looking vomit and black stools and I felt if I was going to pass out. My husband became concern and took me back to the hospital where I was admitted a scope was done the next day of my stomach where a huge ulcer was found. I was shown a picture of it .it was huge. I was discharged the care I receive at that hospital was beyond excellent compared to the care I received at Saint Lukes. I live close to either hospital I am only 10 to 15 minutes .from Saint Luke’s and 20 to 25 minutes. Greer Memorial part of the Greenville Hospital System
While I was at Saint Luke’s Dr, Ratliffe was called in for what reason I do not know. The only thing I can think of is when I refused a bath where the nurses began and I threw my arms up. Which again goes to my rights as a patient. This is the only thing I can remember that they would call unusual behavior .
Since my rights were denied as a patients and not being informed of consultations and being treated as if I was a problem patient. I am currently seeking an attorney to help me with this problem and to help other patients that may or may being going thru this as well. I have not as of this letter obtained an attorney. I have consider writing state of North Carolina to let the state know about this hospital and the nurse who claim to be RN need to be look into. I do not need again to be told about elective surgery I completely understand. I was not seeking surgery . I do not health insurance which they knew My name is Vicki Yockey I can be reached at 864-616-3130 or [email protected]. I hope you can look into this. I can provide any information you need pertaining to the ulcer.
Sincerely Vicki Yockey
I hope that all that I have said can be look into because hospital agrees with this and my patients rights were denied
