So I needed some leads for a project I was working on. In the past I had used Salesgenie. Problem with salesgenie is that they don't have a plan with less than 12 month contract. I only needed access for a month or two.
Enter SalesFuel. With a monthly plan starting at $59.95, seemed like exactly what I was looking for. So I signed up and got started. If you are used to salesgenie, the first thing you will notice is that everything about SalesFuel is low quality.
Low Quality Systems -
I had to contact them to get a user name and password. It was not automatically sent (as the email I had received said it would be). Once I did login, the user interface is very poorly designed. For example, the field for City would only allow 19 characters to be entered. Want to put in two cities, your out of luck. I had many other problems with the online interface. Another example would be in saving searches. I did a search for businesses in 70+ zip codes in Texas (because I couldn't search by County or multiple Cities). When I saved this search, it only saved 36 of the zip codes, meaning I couldn't save the search.
Low Quality Leads -
The leads I was able to pull were also of a very low quality. It seems like a lot of their leads are scraped off the web. This resulted in 30%-40% dead leads from the 500 or so numbers I dialed. And if you dial a lot, you know how much it sucks to have a list stuffed with disconnects.
Low Quality Customer Service -
And finally, the reason I am writing this review. While I was ok with the low quality systems and leads (I was just trying the service out), I was not ok with having to pay for a second month of service I did not want. So I contact them via email about two weeks after I signed up to let them know I wanted to cancel (on 5/20). Never received a response to that email. Call their customer service on 5/31 and I am transferred to voicemail for Jamie in billing and leave him a voicemail. I also send him an email on that day as well. Never receive a response to the call or the email.
Finally on 6/2, find a cell phone number for Jamie on the original sign-up email he sent me and call it. He answers and accepts my cancellation, but informs me that I have to give 30 days notice. This is in the TOS from when I signed up on the website. I didn't read the TOS. Obviously, that is my fault. But it is a little shady to have a monthly service that needs 30 days notice. In other words, they should have let you know up front that it was a minimum of two months, not hid it in the TOS.
I'm letting you know here so that if you sign-up, you know you have to give 30 days notice to cancel.
A legitimate business offering a service people want would not "steal" another month of dues. It's just not good business.
As a side note, I was able to get what I needed using ReferenceUSA from my local library for free. You might want to check into that depending on what your needs are.
Only go to salesfuel if you want systems that don't work well with low quality leads and service.
