Outrageous Scam
I recently received a statment from Salute Visa. They closed my account in Febuary without any notice. They sent me a letter a week later stating they were changing companies and had to close my account without any notice. I had made all my payments on time and before time with Salute. When I first opened my account with them I had to send them a initial payment of $35.00 to open the account. When they closed my account I owed less than $150.00. I made my payment in March of $60.00 out of good faith. Then I got to thinking that here I had paid $35.00 and in the contract it did not say anything about them being able to close my account without notice. In fact it stated that they would up my credit limit from month to month each month I paid on time. I spoke to a representive in March and explained the situation to them. I said I did not have a problem paying my bill, however, I think they should put my activation fee towards my bill because my account was supposed to last at least a year is what it stated in the contract. They stated they never got an activation fee. I told them they sent me an application and before I could even get a card I had to send them that money. They stated they never got one which is a crock. So after some time they will send me a paper saying that my credit has been uped, and I could have this much on my account in a matter of a few months. So I am confused they closed my account and said they would no longer be able to have me as a customer however I am still getting letters telling me they want my business. With the recent statement I just received now I owe $335. 38. My eyes almost popped out of me head. They took my money for activation and I told them what was left of that money I originally owed I would pay as long as my activation fee was paid back to me. They wouldn't have anything to do with that. They went against their contract and now they are charging $50.00 a month for an account they closed. Like I said I would be happy to pay off my original bill but when they went against their contract and now they want to charge me an arm and a leg. Please do something about this scam of a company.

Early Termination, after Major payment
I made a $200.00 payment in January and Salute Visa canceled my card, causing a previous payment purchase to be rejected. This was done without warning or notification. Not to mention the additional fee's I'm being charged, for an account that's canceled?

Unethical/Unlawful
This credit card company has unethical business practices. It is a company out of India. I moved and provided ALL OF MY CREDIT CARD companies with a change of address to ensure that I receive my statements at my new address. I didn't receive the SALUTE VISA statement. So, I called to pay by phone (so the payment would not be late) but could not get anyone who spoke English on the phone. When I called to DEMAND to speak to someone in ENGLISH to make a payment they kept hanging up on me. One person called me a "racist" when I could not understand them and asked to please speak to someone in English. I don't understand how asking for someone who speaks my native language-- a "racist?" They finally transferred me to someone who said "we just closed your account and there is nothing you can do about it." I NEVER PAID LATE. Moreover, I was TRYING TO PAY MY PAYMENT! Be very careful when signing up for credit cards--especially ones that originate outside the Americas. Not all of the companies have ethical practices or follow U. S. laws. They "CLOSED MY ACCOUNT" without notice (unlawful) which has created a derogatory on my credit bureau report. My FICO score dropped dramatically! I regret EVER accepting this company's credit card offer! Their inability to provide proper customer service has financially harmed me!

evil
i had a salute visa for over a year and made my payments ontime also. they said they raised my credit line to $550. but they only did that so they could charge me the annual fee which took up all of the credit line increase.

then they closed my account because they suspected fraudulent activity.. however, they never told me what charges they thought were fraudulent. and they haven't answered any of my letters inquiring about it.

instead they simply closed my account and told me to cut up the card and discard it. yet, they still send me a bill full of monthly fees every month. my credit line is $550 and my bill is now over $1000.00 all in fees.

i've already paid them more than the total amount in purchases i've made. so they are not out of pocket. i will never send them another dime. i makes no difference how it will look on my already screwed credit report anyway. they should treat those of us with bad credit a little better if they want to get our money.

CLosure after 8 payments
I have noticed a disturbing similarity on some of our cards. The promise of reduced interest with good payment history after 8 months. I made my 8th payment as many of you did and my account was closed. This gets more and more interesting as I look deeper. Definately we need to complaing to Better Business Bureau, Attorney General and Representatives and Congressman all the way up the ladder. They may say ALL Salute Cards are being cancelled but they make sure they say SALUTE cards, as they are still accepting applications and giving out credit under other names I am sure. They want us to pay on this account but open another and get stuck paying those payments interest and fees along with these. This has to stop as more and more people get taken in and with this economy we can not let it happen.

Cancellation
I know I am one of many complaints about this egregious act on the company's part. I just received word that all Salute cards were being cancelled yet they were going to charge monthly maintenance fees and yearly fees until all balances were paid off. I know most of us who received these cards did so because of shaky credit ratings, however we do not deserve to be handled in a manner such as this. I have never been late and paid minimum or over and had my limit raised many times. They charge us outrageous fees and add-ons that we have all paid whether we liked it or not because we signed up for them. I think we need to get together and see about contacting an attorney or at least Attorney generals of the states where we all live and file with them. This may be small amounts each but together it adds up to millions. This is a huge scam and we all deserve to get treated with some dignity. I think it is possible they can not just up and close ALL accounts without some type of notice and I think this is where we need to start our hunt to do something about this problem. I will pay my bills as I am responsible for the charges, but I do not think we should be responsible any longer for maintenance and yearly fees along with HUGE interest. I am goint to write to my attorney general after this and direct him to this web site and see where it goes. I am in Florida and suggest everyone write tot heir politicians, as many of us as their are should be able to get some type of response.

card closure and false payments
Just got a call yesterday about a payment being "returned" to them. Only my account doesn't show that. What is shows is a payment recieved, and two months worth of fees and dues that I wasn't told about. They also said that they wouldn't send me an ITEMIZED statement and that the statement I'd been recieving was the only one I'd get. I looked them up online and found out that after 8 months when you're supposed to get a better interest rate, everyone has been having their card cancelled instead. Guess what came in the mail for me today? A cancellation letter!!! So they set up a payment on the 21st, AFTER my card has already been cancelled! This company is just out to make as much as they can before they mess you up more.

FRAUD
Those lousy con-artists! They increased my credit limit AND lowered my annual fee to $100. Within weeks of doing so, they terminated the product, as they like to call it. Now they are hounding me to pay, but they refuse to tell me WHERE the money is going. They refuse to send me any information on their business - location, etc. They refuse to at least write off the $100 fee. Someone needs to stop these crooks. Until I know where my money is going, they're not getting a dime from me!
