We purchased a Lift Chair for my 83 yr. old mother who had hip fracture repair and complications afterwards and needed this to help her to sit and stand. We were given a great deal of encouragement when looking at this in showroom with the wonderful 5 yr. warranty on motor and electrical parts and 7 yr. warranty on mechanical lifting mechanisms moving parts /frame. We were told that repairs or replacements were not ever a problem. We also paid to have the chair scotchguarded prior to delivery. Well chair came with no warranty paperwork nor any inst. manuals or even anything identifiying manufacturer. I called Sam Levitz and was told that they were probably removed when scotchguarding took place and they would see into it. After not hearing from them i called again and was told those chairs never came with documentation. This chair was purchased on 3/7/2009 and now intermittently gets stuck in up /down/ reclined and just any position at any given time. I called Sam Levitz to try and get help to get it taken care of and have been told warranty is only 1 yr. period. and that the manufacturer's warranty is same. So i said how can you tell people 5 and 7 yrs. if this is so. I also asked for numbers and info to contact manufacturer and was told there isn't any. And now it just happens that Sam Levitz doesn't carry this item now.I asked to speak to a manager and was told she isnt available either. I am saddened that we were taken advantage of in this way, but mostly I feel for my mom who really needs this and can't afford a new one.
