I paid off my loan but the lien holder address on the title (where you send you payment to) was incorrect, which is provided by the lien holder, in this case Santander. After the issue was discovered I called Santander to sort it out. We determined that I would put a stop payment on the original check which was mailed well within the payoff period, and send out a new one to a verified address. They then stated the payoff would be more than the original quote. After much discussion we agreed that because I was not at fault, and the amount was so low (roughly $25) they would waive the extra amount. So, I sent in the payment, the loan was paid off and the title was released. I even got a payoff confirmation and checked the balance to find it was at $0. Now, a month later I check the balance again (because they are generally sketchy about their policies and practices) and found that I owed roughly $25 dollars again and my next payment was due several months later in the amount of $245.00 (interest applied). I called to sort it out and I was told that what was supposed to happen, did not happen. My account was not paid off and I owed the money. I asked them to tell me how I got confirmation that the loan was paid and showed a zero balance earlier and somehow now had a $25 balance and they could not answer that. I even got my bank ont he phone in a three-way conversation to verify the details and their billing manager "Julio" essentially called us both liars.
This company is total crap. Rediculous interest rates praying on those with poor credit. Even if you are an excellent customer they treat you like crap. I paid on time for over 4.5 years and when THEY MADE A MISTAKE, I get blamed and will probably have to pay the price. Avoid this company like the plague! You will not be happy in the end.
