repairs

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue with 74000 miles on it that had a horn problem. Just before I brought it in to the dealer the service engine and airbag light started coming on occasionally.The dealer fixed the horn but since I got the car back not only does the service light come on but the power steering goes dead while driving. The problem corrects itself when you restart the car. I brought it back and was told that it was a BCM (computer module) problem and the estimated cost is about $600-$800 to fix. They told me it was a separate problem from the horn being broken. did anybody else have this problem with the horn or the BCM? I've done alot of research and found this to be a common problem on '02 and '03 models. Is this a dealer only fix or can another repair place fix it?

Transmission problems

I bought a Saturn 2003 VUE with 18, 000 miles in October 1, 2005 right after Hurricane Katrina. Last year, 2007 I began having problems with grinding noise and hesitation when stepping on the gas. Saturn said it was the transmission, repaired it and extended the warranty to 75, 000 miles on the transmission. It is now less then a year later and I have the same problem but worse-reduced power light not going out, when stepping on the brake the engine would hesitate and almost kill. I brought my Saturn 2003 VUE back to Saturn of Metairie for service. The service manager did not even bother to return my calls when I asked for a status on the repairs. After much aggravation I was told it was the transmission that would have to be replaced and my brakes would need to be redone, which I found strange since in March 2007 I had the front brakes replaced and the back ones serviced. A week later I went to pick up my Saturn 2003 VUE from the service department on Friday morning. In the afternoon when I was leaving work, the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light came on and would not go out. Also, when driving the engine sounded as if the gears were not sifting, the RPM needle swinging back and forth, and whining like a jet engine ready to take off. The way it sounded, I thought the car would blow up. I took the car back again on Saturday morning and got another rental. On Monday I called to see what the status was and when could I get my Saturn 2003 VUE back since I am still making payments but not having the benefit of having the product. They were still working on finding the problem. I find it strange that while I am having all this trouble with a defective product (as one service manager said the transmission is too small for a vehicle as big as the VUE) the sales staff are trying to sell me a new vehicle. All the advertisement over the years Saturn has touted their product as being so great and that it was a great vehicle for women. Numerous women that I know who had Saturns went on to buy different makes of vehicles; totally fed up with Saturn.
