SBI False committment
I had an SBI card for the last 1.6 years...My company decided to send me abroad for long time and hence I told the SBI agent to cancel the card in the month of July and also settle the account. My card was closed. I was asked to pay two months minumum amount at one shot, after a promist of settlement for Rs.40,000 from which the paid amount would be deducted. I trusted the executive and paid the amount. After a weeks time I waited but did not get any email or any letter or any communication from them. I had to leave India. Before that I mailed them several times wihout any response. Finally, I heard from my family that they called after two months asking for payment. I was really amazed because they said that my settlement did not go through and now I had to pay. I wanted to know if a settlement do not pass, isnt it the responsibilty of the bank to let the consumer know about it? rather than go on charging interst month after month? I told them about the executive who took money from me giving me false committments. To my surprise, I got an email from SBI stating that I had been miscommunicated. Is it my responsibility if the Bank miscommunicates? Cant I sue the bank on that ground? Further it seemed that the rep. who took money from me had left the agency. Then started the communication of several so called case worker to whom I have to explain the case each and every time. I am honestly fed up with this system. I would request all the people here not to go for an SBI credit card ever. They will cheat and take money in ways that you can never recover and you will loose your mental peace. Its a very bad customer service and very unethical.
