I was previously with Holcomb Fuel prior to Scasco acquiring them. I have had a contract with Holcomb/Scasco since 2001. I stopped getting oil deliveries from them in 2008, because I could get oil cheaper from ABC fuel in Brookfield. However, I kept my service contract with Scasco, because the technician's were good to deal with.
This year I went to schedule my cleaning (usually they call me), for which I already paid for and they refused. I was told that I had to have scheduled deliveries in order to have a maintenance contract. I said ok, but since I had already paid I expected them to either provide one last cleaning or to refund my money. By the way, they serviced my boiler the year before and I was not on automatic delivery. I was refused service and I was refused a refund.
The woman looked up my account history and accused me of being a constant complainer. The only times I can remember dealing with them is that I had called years ago (when they wer just acquired) to ask for a lower price on oil and they accommodated me, there never was an argument. Most recently they charged me for tank insurance when i had never asked for it. I did not like being charged for something without knowing why and I had told them that. Again, it was not confrontational. When I realized this horrible woman was not going to do anything I asked her to give me her name, that is when she hung up on me.
I tried reaching Fred Elliot, the president of Scasco (in Winsted) and he yet to return my calls. I am contacting the BBB and will be sending a message to the states attorney general.
The thing is that I understood that they decided not to support folks who are not on automatic delivery, but what is not fair is that they took my money and were never going to fulfill the contract they agreed upon when they accepted my payment.
