Seacoast Pediatric Reviews

Dr. Ralph Ergas
Today I brought my 3 1/2 yr old son to Dr. Ergas' office for a checkup. I am familiar with their prefrences for children to go back by themselves, but with my son being so young and being nervous, I was more than happy to accompany him. The assistant that we first saw was very nice, trying to make him comfortable, as he was covering his mouth because he didn't want to show his teeth. (very normal for a 3 yr old, obviously) After a few minutes, she told him she was going to go get Dr. Ergas so he could look at his teeth. When the Dr. entered the room, he told me to put him on the green chair (the chair the kids usually lay down on) Despite my sons anxiety, I did so - figuring Dr. Ergas had a plan to try to make him feel a little more comfortable. He immediately put on his gloves and told my son to open up so he could see his teeth. My son got very nervous and kicked his feet.. hitting a table that was right next to the chair. Dr. Ergas screamed immediately "HEY DONT KICK MY THAT!!! THAT'S MY TABLE!!!" His tone was very scary and intimidating, and I doubt he could have screamed any louder. He then threw off his glasses, and said " He needs drugs, this is a waste of time!!", told the assistant to weigh him, and stormed out. The assistant nicely and playfully walked my son down the hall to the scale, where he cooperated getting weighed. She then took out the bucket of stickers, and said he could pick one.. After be picked one, he continued to look and she said " you deserve two, you can take another one" after he picked a second (he said it was for his dad), he wanted to pick another for his brother, so she let him pick a third. Then we went back into the office to talk to Dr. Ergas... He told me that he was going to give my son some drugs because he doesn't want to listen... he continued to tell me that the drugs he was going to give him would make him feel drunk.. and proceeded to tell me about how their are "happy drunks and mad drunks.. the mad ones are the ones you see out at the bars sometimes, and i hope he's a happy drunk cause if not, i really dont want to see him again" I was literally speechless, just staring in disgust. As he was saying this, he was staring at my son, playing with his new stickers... Then he looked up at me and said "ya know what, he really shouldn't even have those stickers, he shouldnt be rewarded for not listening" I immediately walked out, as I just could not take the disrespectful and hateful way he treated me and my son...
... I now see there are many other complaints just like this, Something needs to be done to help prevent this happening to other kids and parents. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!!
