Faulty Equipment / Manufacturer Refuses to Take Responsibility
In 2006 I purchased a Kenmore Electric, ceramic top range. In 2007, the Oven began coming on on its own, at max heat temp - when the stove was technically off. We called Sears Repair and they sent a tech out to replace the mother board. The range worked well for a while, until just recently when the large front burner began coming on on its own. It got progressively worse until now, we are at the point that we have to shut the breaker off for fear that the burner will come on and burn our house down. We, again called Sears and they said that they have no record of replacing the motherboard, they only show that the clock and timer were replaced. They also say that they are not responsible to the repair / replacement because the item has not been recalled. I spoke to someone in Customer Service that said it was not "his problem" that we chose not to purchase the extended warranty and if I wanted it fixed, I would have to pay. I have NO problem paying for repair due to normal wear and tear on an appliance, but this is due to faulty manufacturing. Though not "enough" people have had this issue for it to have been recalled, there is much evidence that people are having the issue. In addition, similar models have been recalled for the same issue.

The door handle fell off on my Kenmore refrigerator that I bought from Sears
The door handle fell off on my Kenmore refrigerator that I bought from Sears . The manual doesn't explain how to remove the handle so that it can be fixed. I arranged a Sears repair visit, and the technician charged $127 for less than five minutes of work. All he had to do was to jam the door handle up off the holding flange. The charge should have been limited to the $75 service call.

I will never deal with this company again
My complaint is that on March 10, 2010 I scheduled a repair on my Kenmore washer. The associate told me that a repairman will be out on March 11, 2010 between 8 and 12. On March 11, 2010 I received a phone call from a repairman sitting in my driveway stating that he was here to check my garage door. This is light years away from checking a washer. I contacted Sears and reported the mistake and was out on hold for 27 minutes. I asked to speak to a supervisor who continued to give me the run around. I had to stay home from work and lose pay based on the incompetence of a Sears employee and on top of it all the supervisor was extremely rude and hung up the phone on me after asking me to hold on. I will never deal with this company again and I hope that anyone reading this report will consider your relationship with a company like Sears who gives you terrible Customer Service over the phone when you can't do anything but write a report on them. By the way, I tried to call back and was put on hold for another 33 minutes and hung up on for the second time. Just say No to Sears!

We will never buy another product from Sears again
4 years ago we purchased an oven from Sears which carried a warranty for 4 years. We got our final on our home 2 years ago at which time the Kenmore oven was installed. The oven quit working Feb. 29th with an error code on the oven door. I called Sears and asked for a technican but they would not connect me to one since my warranty had run out. I told them I only wanted to know what this code meant since it was not listed in the manual that came with the oven. I called again the next day and asked again to speak to a repairman and they refused to let me talk to anyone unless I made a service call appointment. They told me to log onto their sight and download a manual and that should answer my question. I did so, and got the same manual that I had in my hands. I called again on the 3rd day and had to make a service call appointment in order to get any help. When I talked to the lady she still would not let me talk to anyone about my problem. She immediately told me that there would be a fee. $65.00 plus labor and parts or pay $129.00 plus parts, or extend my warranty. If I knew what this error code meant, I would be able to know what I could afford. Would it entail parts? Was it just a simple adjustment over the phone? Did I have to replace the oven? They didn't want me to know what I was going to face. I was so upset I just chose to pay the $129.00 and hoped for the best. The repairman showed up the next day, (not even at the scheduled time) and worked on my oven. He pressed 2 buttons and the oven was working. He was there about 15 minutes. This could have been taken care of over the phone. But because I had no more warranty, I was not considered a customer of Sears anymore. I don't mind paying for service if needed, but I should have only been charged the $65.00 since no parts or substantial labor was done. He insisted on collecting the whole $129.00. I was overcharged $64.00. If they believed in good customer service, this could have been handled over the phone in a matter of seconds. We will never buy another product from Sears again.

We plan never to purchase a single from Sears again
We purchased a brand new front load washer and dryer from Sears exactly one year ago to the month (almost the exact date) and the washer has broken down. We called Sears for service. They came out and as usual stated the problem could not be fixed because they did not have the part in stock. I hit the roof! I am tired of them not having the parts to fix things. They also admitted that the reason why we were experiencing smelly laundry is because when Sears installed out washer, they made the hose in the back of the washer too long and a lot of back water was getting into our clothes causing a terrible smell. They fixed the hose and came out to install a new pump and then told us after installing the pump, the machine still is giving them a strange code and is still not working. We are down to the wire now. I am home trying to recover from severe double pneumonia, Thanksgiving is coming, and these people don’t care about fixing the problem in a timely manner and refuse to give us a new washer. My husband has had to go to the Laundromat 2 weeks in a row and this is breaking our backs!!! Now it looks like we will have to go a third week to the Laundromat because Sears once again dropped the ball!!! WE PLAN NEVER TO PURCHASE A SINGLE FROM SEARS AGAIN!!!

Lousy products and customer service
I purchased a new Kenmore refrigerator on March 30, 09 (model #4664812)for $439.99. The refrigerator died in June requiring a new compressor to the tune of over $700. Well it DIED again last week. They have to repair it again and will not replace it.
We've contacted the store, they refuse to help. Should've bought the extended warranty. I guess we are fools to expect a refrigerator to last more than six months!!! We've contacted various people at the 800 number to no avail. They said we must proceed for the new part to repair the unit.
Is this crazy? Kenmore used to have great products, which is why we bought it. No wonder Sears is having so much trouble. Lousy products and customer service.

Worst customer service and repair
WOW.. I am shocked at how poor Sears repair service is. I have been waiting over a month to get my washing machine fixed. I have had 5 appointments.. The first guy didn't know what he was doing and ordered the wrong part. I called Sears and let them know they sent the wrong part. They told me I wasn't qualified to make that decision. OK! So I had to schedule another appointment for them to come out and install this part. (Knowing it was wrong) So I took off work and waited, and waited.. 5 hours no call no show. I called upset and they said "Sorry" and rescheduled for a Saturday. They guy shows up and wow.. surprise its the wrong part!! NO DUH! So obviously this guy can't do anything but reschedule the appointment. Appointment reschedule.. waiting waiting.. no one shows but they call.. Sir we were calling to see if you would like to move your appointment up.. I said.. "WHOA up to what.. I am sitting here waiting for you guys.. please don't tell me you arent coming".. "NO sir.. we have it scheduled for next week". I said.. "why would the technician emergency order parts and schedule the appointment 2 weeks out?" OMG.. I am just livid at this point and the guy hung up on me. So here I am .. 5 weeks later with a box of parts and yet another appointment scheduled.. I will never shop at Sears again. PERIOD.

Terrible quality products!
Our Kenmore Elite washer was giving an H/F error message. This apparently relates to water flow. We have a service contract with Sears and called. The earliest appointment was 8 days later. On the eve of the appointment, a package arrived containing a new computer board (who knows?). The repair man came out, put in the new board, said it's now working, and left. I proceeded to put in a load of wash and within two minutes got an H/F error. Again. I called Sears, and then realized that I had the repair man's cell phone number on my caller ID. I spent the next few hours calling every few minutes but although he said he would come back, he never did. By evening Sears told me to call Customer Relations the next morning. So I did. They said "someone will be out between 1 and 5 today." My husband scrambled his schedule to get home and no surprise, they never showed! When I called back at 4:45 to find out why they claimed that we should never have been told that anyone would come today - in fact the next available appointment is a week away!
I told them that as far as I'm concerned, their product is garbage and they provide service to match.

Defective oven range heating element
I too have a Sears Kenmore range which I haven't been satisfied with it since I bought it. The range takes forever to preheat and then it doesn't maintain the heat that it's set to. Today the bottom element burned out and I see this is a very common problem. Luckily I was in the kitchen when the fire in the oven started so I turned the oven off. The breaker was thrown so no major damage was done. This range has been a BIG disappointment. I won't buy another kitchen appliance from Sears. I've always had GE but thought I'd try Sears this time, which has proved to be a big mistake.
