Sears / Kenmore Refrigerator Reviews

I do not like buying an expensive appliance and something goes wrong with it before it is a year old
We have had trouble with our Kenmore 3door stainless steel Refrigerator. We have had different repair men here three times. I think (at least hope) they finally have it fixed. I do not like buying an expensive appliance and something goes wrong with it before it is a year old. I do not believe that you should have to buy a maintenance agreement to get good service. If parts were made in the USA maybe things wouldn't break down as much. Technician ID 0546143 was very friendly and helpful and in no rush to get us fixed. You should have more employees like him. It is hard to understand foreigners on the phone when you call and try and get help through the customer service number.

I will never purchase another thing from Sears as long as I live
I will never purchase another thing from Sears as long as I live! There service after the fact is the worst I have ever dealt with in my 54 years!!! Not only was my extended srv contract canceled, so was my scheduled service appointment. Of course no one told me that until I had missed a half day of work waiting on them. I have not had a Refrigerator for 8 days!!! NO, milk, butter, condements...NOTHING. Would love for the srv manager who took it upon himself to cancel my appointment and contract to have a similiar experience with his families food supply!

LIGHT MELTDOWN
We just came home from vacation to find our Sears TRIO ELITE refrigerator had its light unit melt down . It ruined some of the food and I'd assume it could have caused a fire . It was hanging by the wires and melted items in my fridge. I'm so glad I saw this site before buying another piece of Sears crap. Hopefully I can cancel the service call for tomorrow.

Lousy service from company
I purchased a Kenmore dishwasher about three years ago and it stopped working in February of this year (2008) I purchased the warranty offered to cover the repairs and the tech came out and fixed my dishwasher. Two months later it ceased working and again I called for repairs. The service tech came out on June 16, couldn't find what was wrong and ordered parts he hoped would fix the problem.

The parts were not in the next week but were promised by the 3rd of July. They didn't come in... company was searching for an alternate part source...and I was assured the parts would be in by July 28th. The parts were not in and again, after a number of phone calls and emails to the company, I was given a due date for the parts of August 25.

When that date rolled around, still no parts. I again called every number I was given and sent several emails to the company asking for the dishwasher to be replaced under the warranty I'd purchased.

I was told the dishwasher could not be replaced without a technician declaring it couldn't be fixed. The catch there was, no repairman would be dispatched because the parts were on backorder. I was finally given a due date of September 29th. I spent over an hour on the phone earlier this week explaining I wasn't going to wait four months for a part that wasn't guaranteed to be in and that I planned to purchase a new dishwasher and sue the company.

I received a call from Sears two days ago offering to refund the price of the warranty I'd purchased for the repairs. I took the offer because it's about the only thing I figured I'd get out of them. I spent several hours on the phone and sent over a dozen emails trying to resolve the problem and all I got was one gigantic run around. I will never buy another Sears product. I strongly suggest anyone thinking about buying something at Sears do so with caution.

Terrible quality product
I purchased a Kenmore Bottom Freezer Refrigerator in February 07. It has a 1 year warranty. It is now August 08 - My refrigerator is 18 months old. I spent $1, 400 on this appliance. Earlier this month I smelled something burning in the refrigerator, but could not identify it.After some time the smell got worse. Then the light fixture literally melted down from the top of the shelf. Apparently the lights did not go off and burned the fixture to melting. We unscrewed the lights and the fixture now hangs down and we are unable to access the shelf. The warning for the refrigerator being open no longer works. The plastic lining on the doors is already falling apart. The doors no longer open independently. If you open one door, both open. The freezer shelves do not pull out properly.

I have had this refrigerator for 18 months. I have never had an appliance that fell apart so fast. I have read online that other people have had the same problem with the light fixture burning. I believe this is or should be a recall item.

We usually purchase our appliances from a local dealer. This is our first purchase from Sears. This is a Sears product- Kenmore. I am shocked that Sears could sell an appliance of this quality. I called for a repair and told it was $175 just to come out and look. This is ridiculous. A refrigerator is only made to last 18 months? Our last one was 15 years old and in better shape than my new one is. I will take my old one back in a heartbeat.

I believe Sears should repair this appliance at no charge, or take it back and refund me a reasonable amount. I intend to contact as many business organizations as possible to advise them of my situation. Sears is selling their own brand appliances that fall apart in 18 months. The light problem was a serious fire hazard. Luckily we noticed it in time to prevent a fire in our home. The plastic on the fixture is melted and visible.

Again, I believe that Sears should repair or replace this appliance at no cost. This experience has totally eliminated any confidence in Sears that I might have had.

I would like to be contacted as soon as possible by someone who has the authority to help me.

Service appointment not kept
In Suffolk county New York, no refrigeration on sears model 795.75282401 purchased 4/22/2005. Called for service appointment on Tuesday 6/19/2007. Sears scheduled an appointment for Saturday 6/23/2007 between 8AM and 5PM. Called Sears at 1-800-469-4663 early Saturday morning to confirm appointment. Vanessa at Sears service confirmed that a Sears service technician would arrive between 1PM and 5PM. At 4PM Sears service rep out of Maryland called to tell me that the Sears service technician wouldn't be keeping the appointment. I asked to speak with a supervisor and the rep trunked me off to the pre-recorded Sears menu. This is the hard cold reality of owning a Sears product and trying to deal in good faith with the Sears service center. It is certainly not the picture that Consumer Reports paints about Sears refrigerators.
