Refuses to disclose shipping charge without providing credit card - FRAUD
I visited sears.ca in hopes of purchasing a new stove for my parents for Christmas.
In placing the order, the website demands payment information and for me to click "place order" BEFORE it will provide me with shipping cost or a total including tax and shipping.
Thinking this was an error, I contacted Sears "customer service" to request the shipping charge. They too, including Supervisor by the name of Marilyn insisted that they cannot provide shipping charge information until payment is made. I'm pretty sure this isn't legal since it asks the customer to commit to purchase and provide payment information without disclosing all fees and charges being applied to the card. If it somehow skirts legal requirements and is ok in that sense, it's most definitely a shady practice.
The Supervisor refused to assist me unless I placed the order and provided credit card information, or waited 3-5 business days for the "transit department" to respond with the cost. Seeing as the sale for the item I wished to purchase is over tomorrow, neither is an acceptable response.

Sale Price?
I purchased a gold necklace advertised at 50% off; paying cash although I do hold a Sears Credit Card with their 29% interest charges which I NEVER use. Two weeks later the same necklace was advertised at 75% off. I returned to the same store to obtain the difference and was told that they would have to refund me in full; place the necklace back into the showcase and that I could come back the next day and if it was still there I could buy it at the 75% off sale price. Ridiculous! None the less; I did as instructed; walked around the display and rebought it with the same sales person who I may add was rather ticked off but rang it in none the less. Why do they verbally give customers such a run around? I then proceeded home; cut up my Sears Card; informed them in writing to close my account ans swore that I would never open another Sears door or catalogue in my life again and I will hold to this!

POOR QUALITY
Purchased this Kenmore built-in dishwasher Model 58715252402 March 2008 on sale for $ 368.00 (was $577). Installed the unit July 2008. Two years later, dishwasher stopped working July 2010...Paid $ 60 to discover that the motor was burnt out. Cost of repair with initial service call $ 325...88% of the cost which I paid for it. Sent a formal complaint to Dene Rogers, President and CEO, Sears Canada indicating that I expected that a dishwasher with the Sears Kenmore name of it should last more than two years (only one year warranty, of course). Never did get a response from this guy. Sent a copy of my letter to Frigidaire (who was the manufacturer)..no response from them either. (What's new) Contacted Sears Customer service twice before they responded. Told they would look into it. A month later, they offered me $ 100 towards the repair or the purchase of a new dishwasher. Needless to say, we declined the offer. Didn't want to buy another piece of junk from Sears. After dealing with Sears from over 50 years, we decided to terminate our business with them.

Worst services
We are customers at Sears a long time and whenever we order online there have been problems with products and delivery which is never exactly on the date they said. Worst of all is that when the call has the customer service they can never answer questions, so we were transferred to the national customer service and they either do not know so I try to explain that their work is to help me and she hangs up. .."Bitch"... Beautiful service ...This company is shit, they are so big that customers are treated like asshole. I buy an elliptical machine for $ 400 + tax + shipping $ 60 they told me that delivery is for September 11 2010 and when I call for national service they told me that the article has not been assigned to a truck yet. WTF I pay $ 60 shipping, I spend my day waiting at home. In this moment I am waiting for 45 minutes on the phone with the shipping department and I did not talk to anyone since. This company should be ashamed !!! Sears is over for us. Nothing good to say about them

Rebate Ripoff
The salesman sealed the deal for a sofa purchase by pointing out that it qualified for a rebate, and even sent us away with all the forms and dual receipts to fill out and send in. The rebate was denied a couple months later on a technicality that was not explicitly mentioned anywhere. Sears customer service offered to provide half of the rebate ($30), but we walked away from that and resolved that no member of our family will ever walk into a Sears store again. Apparently it was about money for them, but principle for us, so in the end our resolution was probably in line with the circumstances. We have cut up our Sears card and will close the account once the last payment of the interest-free financing for this sofa purchase runs its course.
=> DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM SEARS, THEY HAVE NO INTEGRITY!

Buyer beware! Sears no longer has a great return policy!
I've been a customer of Sears for 30 years and did most of my shopping through their catalogue. Even though their prices are often higher, they could always be counted on to accept returns when a product is not as expected. They advertise a "Satisfaction or money refunded" guarantee and have been true to their word.
But things have changed. Recently I ordered a pair of slippers for my grandmother as a gift. She let me know a week later that they didn't fit. By the time I went to see her again, pick up the slippers and return them to the store, 35 days had passed. In the meantime I ordered a larger size. The clerk told me that I could not return or exhange the slippers because more than 30 days had passed. I explained the situation but she wouldn't budge. What?!?!? When did this change occur? There was nothing wrong with the slippers and I'd ordered a replacement pair. I couldn't accept what the clerk told me and so I contacted customer service, explained the situation and they too told me I'm out of luck.
I can't believe they won't take the slippers back. Even the worst retail stores allow for exchanges! I'm very disappointed with Sears and unfortunately I will no longer shop there. They have lost a good, loyal customer because of their new policies. If you shop at Sears, make sure you realize that they no longer back their products.

AC Install
I bought a Kenmore air conditioner from Sears Canada 1.5 years ago, and they installed it. I then moved 10 minutes away, and have been trying for 2 weeks to get Sears to install the air conditioner again, and now THEY SAY THEY DO NOT INSTALL AIR CONDITIONERS IN THE WINDOW. THEY INSTALLED THIS EXACT PRODUCT IN THE WINDOW 1.5 YEARS AGO. I CANT GET ANYONE ELSE TO INSTALL IT, AND THE FUCKING COMPANY THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SELL AND INSTALL IT, WONT DO IT.
WHAT A JOKE OF A COMPANY, I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM SEARS AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN PUT THROUGH THE HOOPS FOR HOURS ON THE PHONE TRYING TO GET AHOLD OF THE INSTALLATION DEPARTMENT, BUT THEY OUTSOURCE IT ALL AND ESSENTIALLY HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHATS GOING ON.

Service so bad
My 3 year old Kenmore Elite fridge ($ 2500) stopped working July 11. All my food had spoiled and the ice maker melted all over the floor.
21 phones, 3 technician visits and 3 no show appointments, 1 call to the President of Sears Dene Rogers.
It's day 12 and my fridge still isn't working and I cannot get anyone at Sears to compensate me for my lost food, money or time or fix my fridge.
I'm waiting on a loaner to be delivered tomorrow so they say!!!
This service is so bad I can't believe it.

Kenmore Front Loading Washer
We purchased a Kenmore front loading washer and dryer team from Sears Canada in the fall of 2007. A few weeks ago one of the three computers in the washing machine was determined defective by their technician when he was here. Turns out that computer defects are only have limited coverage for two years after purchase. Defective product and we are forced to pay 375.00 for the part plus the technicians fees for swapping out all computers to figure out which one is defective.
On top of it all, I have been calling into the service department because they never call you and follow-up on anything. We have been waiting for our parts to come in for weeks. So much for their comprehensive network of parts and services.

poor, confused service-never buy at Sears again
I recieved a KitchenAid Frdige, Sears item 463639223, on April 10, 2010. After unpacking we saw the door handle was damaged so called customer service and asked if we need to return the fridge or could they send a new handle. I called 1-800-267-3277 and was told I had called the wrong number but that if I called parts I would recieve a new handle and it had been authorized as it was recieved damaged. Well I spent the next hour being tranfered and given new phone numbers to call. Every person insisted the next number or transfer would be the correct one. I had multiple authorizations and from different numbers and it seemed to be a bouncing game from parts to customer service and from Canada to Phillipines in both these areas. Once I was given direct number for parts in Ontario and they told me it was nothing to do with them. I then wanted to complain as I was getting no where and the gentleman to me he was where all complaints go and I could not make a further complaints. He also said there was no notes on file indicating any of this happened and there was no authorization on file but said you call parts and they send out the part if it is damaged when you recieve it. I called 1-866-712-5008 and 1-800469-4663 and had over a dozen tranfrers. I think I will just take the fridge back...something simple but is total unsolvable for some reason. I will never buy from Sears again. I tried to purchase from then 2 years ago online and the purchase got lost and things got ugly but I blamed in un immature web purchase web site. I see now there issues run much deeper. Not one of the people I talked to today wanted to help or even stay on the line to see what was happening-they just wanted to transfer me to someone else.
