I purchased a mower on June 29, 2008. I had to take it in to repair in Oct 2009 as the self-propelled mechanism broke. The motor had also been stalling out all summer. I bought a snow thrower in Nov 2008. It went in for repair during the first snow fall Dec 2009. I was left to shovel 12", 4", and another 9" before I complained to anyone who would listen. My daughter had to pick up the snow thrower during a snow storm, but not after we shoveled over 5" of snow. Then I felt like I was being harrassed because I kept receiving phone calls about the snow thrower even after my daughter picked it up. I am still receiving automated calls from them. This was a large ticket item and I believe it should perform as such. I purchased a heater at WalMart and used it for almost three months. It started to make a loud noise. I didn't have the box, but was able to return the heater and I got my money back. The heater was used much more than the lawn mower or snow thrower and I didn't pay nearly what I did for the two engines. If the item is defective I should be able to get my money back. I was told by Sears corporate office that they NEVER give refunds for items over 90 days. I was also told that they have ONLY been serviced once. Well how many times do they have to be repaired to qualify for a lemon law. How convenient that the season for each is only about 3-4 months. I owned a John Deere mower and it worked great for over twelve years. The same for the snow thrower we had. I bought the items for the Craftsman name...big mistake. I no longer trust them and the service I got from Sears was horrible. That was another nightmare!
