Sears Credit Card Reviews

Wants SSN & DOB on a .com
Recieved a new CC that is through CitiBank.
Registered via phone. Then wen on-line to update stuff, and it wants my SSN & DOB on a .com site.
No way will I do that, and they have no way to complain to them unless I do register (meaning giving them this info).
Bah Humbug.
Called the number on the CC and got "...that is the procedure..."

Sears had lost me as a customer and cc holder.

Sears Credit Card
This evening I called customer service dept. regarding a $45.00 charge that apparently is now being applied to Sears charge accounts as an annual fee. My father who is 85 and very ill with Parkinson's Disease is not able to verbally say that he no longer wants the card, and even though he has not used the card for years, my mother who is able to say that they know longer need the card, was also not able to close it out over the phone. We were told that it would be necessary to send a power of attorney paperwork to Sears and then they could do it.

I feel that this is terribly wrong, to put older people through this. Also, how unfair of them to charge a $45.00 annual fee for someone who has not used the card in years. I wonder how you can get away with that...and hopefully when some of you are older, you will not have to go through this type of stress.

Anyway, we will go through the hassle of the paperwork, as we were told that if we did not pay the bill we would be sent to collections...so "Kennedy" the supervisor who might be reading this now, says. He also says there is no one higher than him to complain to...so we will comply, although, there truly must be someone else who oversees his department.

My mom no longer wants anything to do with Sears, and I too, will cancel my Sears card as I do not want to go through this hassle someday myself.

They closed and lied about my account
The end of November I received an email saying that "since you reported your sears card lost or stolen, we have cancelled your account and you will be receiving new cards within two weeks."

I IMMEDIATELY called them to tell them NO-ONE had called them to report our cards lost or stolen. They said that they had a "record" of the call and it was too late, to just wait for my new cards in the mail.

I pay my bills online and can no longer access their website due to them shutting off my cards. A phone payment costs over $13 each time..convenient isn't it?

I called this evening and was rudely told that "she called and cancelled the account, referring to my husband, whose name looks like a females name."

I asked for a supervisor, I was informed that there is NOTHING they can do, they WILL NOT issue new cards, and I will have to APPLY for new credit.

After working hard to repair our credit, it will take two hits due to the SEARS CARD SERVICE CENTER, one for cancelling one of our longest credit accounts, and another IF we choose to apply for new credit.

What a Great Company!

Fraudelent Charges
Sears promotes 12 month deferred payments when you buy appliances but BEWARE. I have had unauthorized charges since February and till now I am trying to resolve those. No fault of mine, SEARS EMPLOYEE puts charges on my account and I am spending hours on the phone trying to resolve that. BOGUS PROMOTION, DO NOT GO NEAR SEARS CREDIT CARD

Ridiculous Credit Card
I had just moved to a new state for college when I went to Sears to find a cheap new shirt to wear. Of course the cashier waved around the discounted price of the shirt if I signed up for the Sears Credit Card. Foolishly I was tempted and signed up. Though they needed my drivers license to process the application, the address of my license was still the one from my last college residence. Of course I had updated my new address with the post office. Yet I got my first statement in the mail a few days later than the first billing due date due to the rerouting of the mail. I called Sears to immediately pay my card over the phone and I was astounded to find my little $15 charge increased to $86, due to their enormous late charges. After much dispute with the rude customer service lady I was still forced to pay the $86 and I immediately canceled that card and haven't shopped at Sears since.

Worst customer service and card payments
This site is the ABSOLUTE WORST. I got this credit card because I needed to get some stuff on my car fixed and it seemed like a nice deal. WRONG! I usually pay my bills online and they want ALL YOUR BANK information... What company does that? What happened to a simple credit card payment? So I called customer service and every representative I have spoken to are RUDE. If you wish to pay with a credit card they charge you $14 just to use your card. I hate this card and if Sears wants to keep their business they better straighten theirs!

Harassment about bogus past due bill!
My wife and I have received several debt collection calls in an attempt to collect an alleged outstanding bill with Sears Credit Card Services. The amount they give us is $49.++ They state that they have spoken to us on different occasions and that we know about the bill and that it has been reported to the credit bureaus. They asked if I still lived at an address that was a temporary address in 1998 and I said that I have not lived there for 10 years. Today, April 12, 2008 I received a call and then called Sears to see if they have ever had an outstanding balance on any account that I have ever had with them and they said "no".

These calls and this harassment need to stop and this company investigated. I have read other complaints on the internet about them and someone need to put a stop to this.

Thank you.
